Interesting.. Generally speaking Romania is a warmer civilization that resembles Spain/ Italy/ Greece while Austria belongs more in the Germanic one. People don't have strong boundaries but help you in times of need (and also expect to get helped when they need it as well).

I travelled through Romania via Eurail and stopped at all (?) 4 stops from west to east
