While Qatar's human rights issues are horrific I kinda must point out I find it interesting the GP only gets triggered about not boycotting or cancelling something or some place when a celeb or internet makes it a trend and others join in it

There's lots of stuff and places and companies all around us all the time that if some movement pointed it out how bad they are everyone would agree they should be boycotted but we largely don't ever think about it and move on with our day

The moment something gets on to the spotlight on the internet suddenly banning or cancelling that thing becomes the holy grail of moral superiority and somehow whether u join it or not and talk about it determines whether ur a good person or not

He was rude the way he brushed off the interviewer and very unnecessary to minimize the issue but in terms of him choosing to join the boycott or not, that's his decision

Children die in child slavery conditions everyday and no one is condemning famous ppl for wearing addidas sneakers. I guess cuz atm it's not in the spotlight trend then u don't have to be cancelled about it ATM. Only when it goes viral then it's cancel worthy :neyde:

This is exactly why I don’t trust most people’s wokeness. People love to speak up about something online only when it goes viral, saves them the effort to actually research what goes around in the world, wait for it to be brought to their attention and then they post a comment or two “speaking up”, call it a day. Like they’re waiting for a social medal or somethin.

Everything about this World Cup is so obviously corrupt to the bone it's making my blood boil that it's happening at all. Such a painful reminder how money rules all. This is not improving my faith in humanity.

My issue is not making a stand on something like this in it self. It's a very good and important cause

My issue is that energy is always missing in general until the internet or a celeb selects something to hyper focus on. Then suddenly ppl have so much will to the point they even shame anyone who doesnt join their boycott on that one thing or movement

To me that's not a balanced way to go about things and frankly not a very true way to show ones principal's or morality or integrity as that requires consistency. That's really just being driven by trends and it's a very superficial way of being "moral".

I can’t believe his response was “It’s something I can’t resolve” and follows up with “I just came here to enjoy life and soccer” he sounds like a dickhead.

He is a dickhead, honey.

It's amazing how he went from 10 to -4 million in my books after that one clip... Very repulsive. He should at least recognise the responsibility he holds from having a celebrity platform and  could have been much more respectful to the cause and interviewer when answering (even if he doesn't agree)
