Remap the Born This Way Era/ Ball

Clearly the succession from The Monster Ball directly into the Born This Way era and then diving into another worldwide tour less than a year later was wayyyyy too ambitious. So mostly to benefit Gaga’s health and minimize some of the stress on her body and mind, how would you remap the Born This Way era, most prominently the Ball? Here’s what I would do:

Gaga wasn’t going anywhere in the public eye, her break could have been much longer between TFM and BTW. Although it was still a pretty customary gap, 1.5 years, when you consider that The Monster Ball lasted through the entirety of that gap, she literally jumped from one era to another. Other artists have and continue to do this sure, but how many of them simultaneously danced and sang while also often wearing large, obstructive outfits and props in nearly every performance (during this part of her career of course)?? She was giving more into every performance than virtually anyone, that didn’t need to and shouldn’t have changed, but the people around her should have caught on to the early sings of slowing down.

It was evident in GagaVisions pre-BTW that she was truly exhausted and on a nonstop schedule. She didn’t want to stop and her management allowed that to happen, rather than looking at her success in the long run, health wise and career wise. Soooo

Born This Way (album) should’ve been held till Fall/ Winter 2011. If Gaga was eager to showcase her new masterpiece, she could have still teased tracks like Scheiße at fashion shows, or used them in the background of her vlogs and other fun videos for fans, and she could’ve have even tipped her toes into the era by kicking it off at the end of The Monster Ball, imagine this:

Born This Way (single) - June 2011

The Edge of Glory (single) - August 2011

— TEOG performance + album release announcement at VMAs —

Born This Way (album) - October 2011

This would have still allowed for her to prep the era / rest from touring in May while easing into the new era throughout the summer. The album would arrive nearly half a year after the tour concluded and THEN she could kickoff its massive promo blitz. Then you get to the rest of the era and the Ball.

Yoü and I (US) / Scheiße (WW) - November 2011

Hair - February 2012

Born This Way Ball

Asia - June 2012

Australia - Late July/ August 2012

Europe + South Africa - Late September - December 2012

Latin + South America - January 2013

North America - March - May 2013

No FAME (perfume) until the ARTPOP era either, one less thing to worry about while on tour

This would take me hours to type out, but I can talk about the era transition:

I would definitely not do the second (third overall) North American leg of the Monsterball 2.0. It's not needed.

I would not mention Born This Way at all until 2011. She doesn't need the over hype.

I would cut out a lot of promo to not over expose the era. The amount of promo they did made sense during The Fame because she was new, but not during Born This Way. The Fame Monster is a good example of what promo for Born This Way should have been like.

The second single came out too early. They should have waited (close to) three months to release it, not two.

Born This Way (the album) should have come out a little earlier to allow hype from the lead single to carry over into the album release.

Completely agree with all of this…..except for the thoughts about the promo run for Born This Way, I think it showed how much passion she had for the album. Despite her not having to do all of that, she was still very up for most of it and gave her all into every performance that era. It cemented her as a legend seeing her name and face everywhere like that. A Gaga album release had truly become a WW phenomenon

I also had similar thoughts about them not doing the final NA leg of The Monster Ball. I think it would have been fitting to do the Mexico City shows and a few benchmark shows in the US, like NYC, LA, etc. to film the HBO special, but yeah, another full run of the US (her third overall that tour, second with the revamped show) was overkill and probably kicked off her exhaustion
