RahrahWitch 6,977
What she did was great but that ego is unflattering. She didn't fight that fight alone, she was one of many Important Women in music.

That's what other ladies helped to do before she could come up with the sex book in the 90's. It was a long gradual process even if of course it's not the same photos type. That's all we said. Levine 23,026
I have a question for people who are saying she's right. So y'all convinced that if she never existed, we NOW IN 20FREAKING22 wouldn't have had Cardi, Kim and Miley doing the things she said? Are you as delusional as she is or you're just trolling? apollorowling 414
Yes, Madonna is important. And what? She's not the only one who did great things, but she's the only one who asks to be thanked EVERY year. ENOUGH. Enough of feeding egos, I don't know who is more clumsy, Madonna or those who defend her tooth and nail.

chromaticainmyhead 6,366
It baffles me that people on here try so hard to find reasons to diminish her zeitgeist. I'm no Madonna Nation stan , really not, but can you not unsee the harsh reality of double standards that she experiences in 2022 and she tries to convey with these posts? She - purely based on her discography and statistics - deserves to be recognized as a legend quite frankly just as Michael Jackson at least. Based on her discography alone she deserved to be called Queen of Pop (for the likes of what people like to associate when they call MJ the King). Yet at a certain age while men with a similar status kept receiving acclaim hers declined because she didn't fit into the standards of a recognizable female musician in the heights she was catapulted into. She became outdated, uncool, too old, a "milf", disgusting, bitchy, obnoxious, narcissistic, self-centered, etc. Should she be treated like a holy person with people just praising her? Hell no. She is a human being and no holy but it is a FACT that she keeps being rebellious and maybe that's why she feels so misunderstood. If you look in her latest work Madame X you can watch her talk about it and it's really for everyone who feels like she is too much. She is because our world is simply not made for women over 40 to still make trendy pop songs dancing in sexy costumes aside the other pop girls in their 20s. While you call her she didn't do much back then for the women you are now in their 'golden years' you see her in her late 60s still making music with videos, lyrics and symbolism that is seen unconventional. While her male colleagues release work that often too easily is being recognized as some sort of wise, holy artwork that is their masterpiece. If I were Madonna I had every right feel bitchy because that's probably the exact feeling she wants to have as some sort of approbriation or empowering against the standards that want to make her feel like the villian. Just like she did when she called Gaga "reductive" with a grin in her face. fan-tas-tique, chic, freak, slaaaay

GGD is not a healthy place to discuss moral values. See what side they are at in the Amber/Depp event, let alone these things about gay icons and pop queens. Imagine the stans.... skedaddleBItCh 2,788
I think what's wrong with this post is that she comes off as fairly arrogant e.g., that last statement feels like women, some who even cite her as an inspiration, owe her something for pushing sexual liberation of women of the present. It's true that she contributed to it, but I just wished she had worded it better. 🇵🇭༼;´༎ຶ ༎ຶ༽🇵🇭
Versace 7,905
I don’t think so. It’s just society progresses its thoughts/views over time (sometimes this works in reverse too). It just happens that what was taboo during your time is no longer taboo. I think musicians directly pave the way more in terms of sound and representation not social norms, at least not when it comes down to one individual. Imo Miley neither, but that apart from Hannah Montanah, she is mostly known for Wrecking Ball. Cardi and the other women she mentions are just known for being vulgar. steve.22 60
For those trying to minimize Madonna impact probably did not « experienced » the Erotica period. It was much more than an album, a book or getting naked. It was about a message which very few popstar have today. She stood up for herself and expressed it eloquently. WAP is just about shocking. It’s a fastfood song just like many songs today. To have an idea of how important the message of Erotica/Sexbook and how she was treated by medias and public and still is, watch that interview
