Let’s not lie now. Rosalia raised the bar for experimental albums through and through. She should be given an honorary Latina title for this :applause:

Idk yet. I played the album through once and then decided to listen to reputation instead:billie:

The production on a lot of the songs are begging for a catchy hook and then it never comes except for Anti-Hero and Snow on the Beach

I think she raised the bar with 1989 and then again with Folklore. Too early to tell what’s going on with Midnights but so far I don’t think so. The fact that she’s releasing this album now after Folklore and Evermore is what’s making the hype so big right now. Had this been released after Reputation or Lover, it would’ve gotten similar opinions to those 2.

This is so true. Tbh Red TV was also mostly a step up from Red original, that created further expecations. Midnights isn't too bad but just a bit too reminiscent of the Lover/Rep era Taylor which feels like a bit of a step back but oh well

Musically, I don’t think this album raised the bar. I like it. The only other album I like by her is 1989.

from a marketing pov, yes absolutely it raised the bar. Like, it was so good and fun just watching and I’m just a very casual fan, not a “swiftie”
