Actually let me stay quiet bc I also disliked Renaissance at first and then it quickly grew on me :awkney: so who knows

I will say Anti-Hero is great and will for sure be her next #1

If anything Renaissance proved that more is more. Taylor definitely needed more helping hands if this is the best she could come up with.

I disagree tbh. Renaissance was great but the lyrics were definitely not award winning or witty. It was pretty much the same Beyoncé lyrics with more lingo thrown in. If you’re talking production, that’s a very individual basis imi cuz this album is very different for Taylor

The large amount of songwriters isnt just for lyrics. First of all every sample or interpolation has every writer from that song credited, and she used maaaany samples. Second of all songwriting isn't just about the lyrics, it also involves the melody, rhythm all that stuff which i think is way more important.

You mean the ones she didn’t credit :iamfair:

jkjk. But even then most of it was just sampling which I understand but she didn’t really do anything amazing or revolutionary. It’s a great album don’t get me wrong, but it was nothing really different. I’d say this is def a different direction for Taylor while bey was just kinda pulling from stuff she did in the past and blending it with house music

Just finished, and while I was cynical at first, this may be her best album. A true living room album. This has the potential to be our generation's "Tapestry", which labels have been fighting for, and I think she finally nailed it. Back with a track ranking later.

Better than Folklore? Maybe I need more time when the album fully comes out Friday but the lyrics imo aren’t has impactful as Folklore/Evermore. Excited to see ur ranking

I definitely like it. Immediate standouts to me are Maroon, Anti-Hero, and Labyrinth. I don’t think it’s 1989 or Folklore level tho.

I hear you, but I think that's the point. I don't need to follow characters/stories/motifs every time I listen to an album. This is just a collection of great, sonically consistent, somewhat danceable, occasionally moving, and above all, infinitely listenable songs. It reminds me of Beyonce's self-titled. She's on top of the world and has nothing to prove to anyone, so she's just making songs she loves.

Folkmore/evermore felt heavier concept to me, and more consistently acoustic.

Edit: oops just bought a vinyl. And THAT, ladies & gents, is how leaks help.

Ahhh that makes sense.

Waiting til Friday but kudos to her team for marketing, it’s everywhere. I went to Target and it’s already getting advertised, and they had the actual midnights cardboard things out (not the album though)

For now...

1. Question...?

2.Anti-Hero

3.Lavender Haze

4.Vigilante ****

5. Snow on the Beach

6. Mastermind

7. Karma

8. Labyrinth

9. Maroon

10. Sweet Nothing

11.You're On Your Own Kid

12.Bejeweled

13. Midnight Rain

Honestly though, all thirteen tracks are better than the lesser half songs of Folklore, and better than most of Evermore & Lover (and most of her discography, tbh...though I'll always have a soft spot for her poppiest pop [Look What You Made Me Do, I Knew You Were Trouble, Shake it Off, etc])

In the song Anti-hero what does the “sexy baby” line mean I’m still scratching my head :triggered:

Can someone tell me just one thing... i hated the folkbore everbore eras .. that kind of music was simply not my cup of tea...I tried many times over last 2 years to like them but simply couldn't... so does this album midnights sounds like folklore????

or more like reputation/1989????
