Okay I thought this was gonna be an expansion and I was like "10 years too late EA but what's new" :laughga:

But also UM... "very early in development" wtf??? It's been 8 years since TS4 released and they are JUST starting TS5? What the actual hell? I thought we had news it was in development years ago

Anyway, I can't wait to see what Plumbella has to say about it :vegas:

I think we are all ready to move on from the mess that was TS4 though. GOD I hope they take feedback from the long time fans when developing the next game. TS5 is literally gonna be make or break for this franchise

I'm privately rooting for Paralives oops

I'll be myself until they fūcking close the coffin.

Since the original creator departure The Sims have not beign the same. Is lacking in plots, cheesy comedy, dramas, gossips, rumors, and satirical humor thah original game have. You feel it like a real neighborhood. The graphics are better than ever now, but since  Sims 4 dont have sandbox world i never understand the long loading pages, the 3D/clay simulation creator studio was amazing better that any past Sims videogame but the color circle/mixer and patterns for fashion and custumization were a mess. The story mode and easter eggs, personalities and all that including dlc and extra packs were boring. And I agree the game feel really empty.

The only interesting project would be a remaster/remake of Sims Online.

Don't forget that every expansion/add on pack lately has been broken as HELL. Rushed out half finished and untested. An absolute joke of a company. They just do not give a f.uck about user experience anymore, just money

I'll be myself until they fūcking close the coffin.

Say what you want about The Sims 4, the build mode is amazing :diane:. All it lacks is Create-A-Style, and maybe some better lighting. The tools they show in the Rene teaser would be a game-changer if implemented correctly.

To be honest, I'm really craving some Sims 4 gameplay now. My laptop can't handle it though, and...

Spoiler

I never actually "purchased" the game :messga:

As a long time fan since the FIRST game I was so disappointed with everything missing from TS4 when it first released that I decided to always torrent the games :huntyga:

And while I enjoy watching other people use the build mode and it looks amazing, there are a couple other things I could NOT get my head around that ruined it for me so I just never played the game.

1. The side scrolling with the mouse is sh.it and feels totally different to the other games, and when the controls for rotating the screen and everything felt so off I just couldn't stay centered and I'd get a headache just trying to rotate the camera :saladga:

2. The whole 'each room has to be a room before you can place floor tiles' thing just effed me up so hard in one of my builds. The game just would NOT recognise the rooms the way I wanted it to and it was SO simple like OMG why does it have to register as a 'room' instead of letting me freely place walls wherever I wanted. I never played again after that headache

I honestly forgot about the room system :messga:. Yeah, that's a weird mechanic but I think I got used to it after a few builds. I think the only use for it, is the fact that it enabled "sharing" complete rooms. Which I never used :air:.

Isn't there an option to change the camera controls? I remember being confused as well. Maybe I installed a mod for it.

Honestly there's a lot that EA messed up with this game (lacking content, broken gameplay, moneygrabs), but one thing I can say in their defense: they have to walk a very fine line between casual and hardcore gameplay. The systems they have to create should be easy enough for 8 year olds to navigate, and complex enough for adults who want to make multigenerational empires in every esthetic imaginable. Add to that an ever-growing list of demanded gameplay features (from past games), and they pretty much developed themselves into a corner.

On thing that has me excited, is that they appear to be including the community more. The fact that they're going to do early reveals and public testing for Rene also gives me hope. That way they can get real feedback in an early stage, which hopefully leads to a solid and expansian-proof base game.

Making mods an official addition seems like a good step (although I can't help but being sad for websites like TheSimsResource and ModTheSims).

I got the Sims 4 when they made it free, I played 2 hours, got bored and never wanted to play again. That's very telling of the quality of the game, when you know I could spend a whole day playing the previous versions.

SAME. Part of it was that I am now an adult but the whole game just felt so surface level. I'm not sure how to put it into words.

I'm not excited for it

Sims 3 and 4 were the most cashgrabby eras of all time (although Sims 3 felt like a complete decent game on its own merit and 4 did not) and I'm sure 5 will be no different. People say Sims 4 got better over time, but, lets be real, they've stayed releasing bare-bones content for high prices til-this-day.

I firmly believe the best Sims game was The Sims 2, because it had heart and it was made by people who were there from the beginning, including Will Wright to some extent. It was a good game from day 1 and has a level of detail and complexity that still hasn't been replicated in this franchise in the 18 years since then. But EA either drove away or laid off most of the people that made that game possible, and they're gonna run (or already have run?) this franchise into the ground like they did with SimCity

I agree 100% I am still interested in what the new technology will mean in development of The Sims series but tbh the series are not what they used to be. To me aestheticelly Sims 4 is annoying, everything is like a baby toy in the game, everything became so glossy, round like a polly pocket. Old school sims games were so funny, there were so many dark jokes in them, references for adults, 3D models were creative (I loved the Urbz for that). Even today whenever I feel nostalgic Sims 2 is the one I get back to, I dont even care that the furnitures are outdated it still makes more sense for me to play that game. EA games and all these big game companies are so money hungry they dont even care about the spirit of a game anymore. Its ridiculous, the amount of expansion packs are out today for Sims 4 and that they have the guts to release a game when they are not even properly finished.

I miss Sims 1. I wish they would remake it :cyanlights:

It's so fun lol especially with all expansion packs. You could stay up all night playing and never get bored of it even if it didn't have life stages. I was playing it the other day and I forgot how fast needs drop, you could barely get things done in a day with everything that you have to do.

Sims 1 was so quirky and challenging and weird and really unique at the time. Sims 2 really took that a step further with lore and storytelling and was still so quirky and funny and surprising, and you can really see the care they poured into that game with every animation. Sims 3 advanced things further with more lore and an open world and crazy customisation.

Sims 4... added nothing, subtracted so much, all the packs are broken and stupid, didn't deliver on anything the fans wanted, not quirky funny or interesting or wacky like the first 2, broke the lore of the first 3.

I really wish the original teams who worked on the first 3 would come back on board and make something amazing for TS5, but it's not gonna happen

I'll be myself until they fūcking close the coffin.

Sims 4 is definitely a longer lasting games than its predecessors, but it also takes a LONG time to develop. The sims 4 began development before TS3 even released. The Sims 5 (the one this thread is about) began development around 2019.
