I’m pretty sure it’s Sims 5 considering even Sims 4 had another project name. But I do think it’ll be multiplayer and possibly even subscription based and I hope I am wrong. Railing 2,277
I'm not excited for it Sims 3 and 4 were the most cashgrabby eras of all time (although Sims 3 felt like a complete decent game on its own merit and 4 did not) and I'm sure 5 will be no different. People say Sims 4 got better over time, but, lets be real, they've stayed releasing bare-bones content for high prices til-this-day. I firmly believe the best Sims game was The Sims 2, because it had heart and it was made by people who were there from the beginning, including Will Wright to some extent. It was a good game from day 1 and has a level of detail and complexity that still hasn't been replicated in this franchise in the 18 years since then. But EA either drove away or laid off most of the people that made that game possible, and they're gonna run (or already have run?) this franchise into the ground like they did with SimCity
Oriane 19,775
I got the Sims 4 when they made it free, I played 2 hours, got bored and never wanted to play again. That's very telling of the quality of the game, when you know I could spend a whole day playing the previous versions. You popped my heart seams, all my bubble dreams

Branflakes 137
I really hope its not scaled down so much to enable playability on mobile like they said it would be cross devices... I'm a serious gamer and I'd like a game that will make use of the computers we have in 2022... The Sims 4 was already borderline dated in graphics when it released and I'm not even referring to the fact that its a stylised cartoonish aesthetic... Honestly very disappointed in how little we saw and how early in development this game looks so far considering how much money their current game is to play if you actually buy all the DLC's. surely they have access to money to develop something a little better than this... I think the fat cats have been soaking up too much of the money and they just haven't had the competition to push innovation in their market. Flop. Enigma 7,182
This is so confusing and whatever it is it looks terrible Why that stupid name first of all? I get having a code name for a project you're working on secretly, that's like... the point. But announcing a project under its code name? If this is indeed Sims 5, it's so anticlimactic. Assuming it is The Sims 5, it looks like the exact same goofy graphics as 4. What are we supposed to be impressed with? A color wheel that we already had 13 years ago? Really not pleased with this. It looks like they're still going down that childish aesthetics based route for people who only create buildings and sims and don't actually play the game. Which is understandable considering The Sims 4 is so empty there's no point in actually playing. They fully lost the charm of the franchise when they changed the art style. No more open world, no more lore, no more gameplay. I was hoping Sims 5 would be like 2 and 3 with the build/create modes of 4 but this seems like another empty shell. moonsago 6,518
Work on the graphics please... the downgrade from The Sims 3 to The Sims 4 was... a shock to say the least. I remember all the meltdowns on simblr ( tumblr but for sims accounts )... AND ADD THE COLOR WHEEL BACK YOU FREAKING PRICKS!
moonsago 6,518
Also, let’s call it as it is, The Sims 2 is the surperior generation, the game play is just perfection, it has so much character, style and personality. The Sims 3 is amazing too for some of it’s features but it felt kinda ‘souless’ in a way ( which I know sounds stupid cause it’s a game, but something was missing ). They really created something magical with The Sims 2 though, all the EPs were simply fantastic and added SO much to the game, were so distinctive between each other and were fun. So were the stuff packs. Ugh... now I miss playing it, it’s been years.

So the base game was kind of like The Sims All-Stars, tossing together random families + parodies of families from throughout the series, i.e. the Goths, Calientes, TS3 Landgraabs, Pancakes being a parody of the Newbies, Johnny Zest being a parody of Dudley Landgraab from the early console games, the BFF household was a set of MySims characters, etc. Since then, they've probably officially remade every single default playable household from Sims 2 Pleasantview/Strangetown for The Sims 4, and yet they won't distribute Sims 2 and they released a statement about how they'll now refuse to give patched digital copies to people who had the physicals
jsn 1,644
I love/hate that the short clip was essentially just "oh no we saw how many cool build features Paralives has, so we need to shove as many of them into our clip as possible" 3 hours ago, TheOriginalOne said: inb4 project Rene is just a new mobile game. They showed that there will be some sort of mobile version that you can switch to and still have your progress, and I'm afraid that it'll simply hold the pc version back... By calling 3 a cashgrab I meant that the game was heavily milked, not just with the packs, but with the official Store where they were spamming content in a parallel fashion to TS4's Game Packs and Kits, but even further since there were blind box items and a whole 'SimPoint' currency system I also feel like Sims 2 still had some juice left at the end, but maybe that's just me; we never got a fame or performing arts-inspired pack. It also would've been nice to receive a big update with the features that were added in the Castaway Stories spinoff, i.e. bigger hoods, bigger lots, improved water graphics, an extra skintone, the option of multiple save files for one hood, Need hotkeys, etc.
