Spices that were used for food preservation can be like salt, mustard seeds, cumin… Not “hot spice”. Spicy =/= Hot You should really look it up before you wanna try to correct people. Capsaicin is a bactericide and preservative.

Agreed. I miss that gallbladder all the time. Bummer that they dont do transplants. And spicy food can lead to GERD and Barrett's esophagus which can turn cancerous. Mine is benign but I had to cut out all spicy foods and many other foods that trigger GERD. I loved Mexican food and spicy food from India. I live outside the space time continuum. Capsaicin is a bactericide and preservative. I did look it up. Where you get this reckless confidence I don’t understand though. Capsaicin is not a common ingredient of preservative spices. It belongs to chilli pepper family only whose dried form constitutes a super small subset of the world of spices. Overwhelming majority of spices used as preservatives have nothing to do with capsaicin. You insinuated a relationship between preservative spices and hot food tolerance of certain ethnic groups which is a double digit IQ move. Basic wiki knowledge for you: Capsaicin (8-methyl-N-vanillyl-6-nonenamide) (/kæpˈseɪɪsɪn/) is an active component of chili peppers, which are plants belonging to the genus Capsicum. It is a chemical irritant for mammals, including humans, and produces a sensation of burning in any tissue with which it comes into contact. Capsaicin and several related alkaloids are called capsaicinoids and are produced as secondary metabolites by chili peppers, probably as deterrents against certain mammals and fungi.
