The Fame Joanne is so underrated and aside from the genre, I think it's 'cause people think it's an album about her aunt. "Why is there a song about masturbating on an album about her dead aunt?!" They forget her name is Joanne too. It's a look into her own mind and her speeches about pain and how it transforms a person during the JWT are among my favorite she's ever given. At my JWT show she talked about how she felt she's never met her real dad 'cause the pain of losing Joanne changed her dad so much he's an entirely different person than he was before her death. It's just such a tender and intimate album and story and important to me on a personal level So much of Gaga's work is about pain. Born This Way is the pain society and the gay community experiences. ARTPOP is about rage and expressing pain. Chromatica is about healing from pain. But Joanne? It's about living with pain and understanding how it touches every aspect of our lives. At least, that's what I take from it all.
