This is a parody, so they do not need to obtain permission. There is no grounds to sue, parodies are fair game. Weird Al asks for permission for his parodies but not out of legal obligation, just kindness.

Children's media often includes parodies of popular songs and/or celebrities in them so it kinda comes with the territory

If I were a part of an artist’s team I would advise them not to take legal action. It’s a low stakes project created for children. Do you really want to run the risk of being ridiculed for suing over nothing? Now, if the project started making some real money then call me Taylor Swift because I’d say sue those raggedy doll makers. :vegas:

Britney can't sue anyway, although thats her song, the music is not made by her, she is not credited for it. The one who can sue is Danja. And they could always bought rights from Danja already hence no legality issues.

Well it was the main theme song of the franchise in its first generation, used for a majority of the early commercials and webisodes as well as being updated for the Gaga collab. The song was also released officially on one of the soundtracks a few years later, still available on Spotify etc. with no credit for Gimme More.

Clearly the franchise is making a lot of dough, seeing as it became a billion-dollar brand in only 3 years, it's still going strong after a decade, there were celebrity endorsements i.e. Gaga and Madison Beer as well as official dolls for Beetlejuice, It, The Shining, etc., and they just put out a feature film with Nickelodeon :green:

The credits don’t mention any writer of GM, so they either just stole it, bought the rights to use it or claim that it’s a parody of GM.

So you can legally redo a song without mentioning the original writers by buying the original song rights?
