This is unfair because everybody should be drafted: males and females.

Please it's the only benefit of being a woman let's keep it that way please

Kinda, technically you can still be drafted until 35, but historically it hasn’t really happened past 25. It’s a requirement for men to register at 18 in the US and many states will register you automatically. Though actually activating the draft would be kinda useless in the US considering the backlash and the fact that many/most within the draft age wouldn’t be eligible due to a plethora of reasons

Why are we still drafting? That's crazy.

We still require people to register (we didn’t for a while but carter reinstated the registry :messga:) but haven’t actually drafted anyone since 1973

Oh, I agree to be forced to fight is horrific! But there is no possibility countries will abandon this idea so when a draft comes it should at least be fair and include everybody. Though to be absolutely clear-> no pregnant women or with kids dependent on them.

Or people with severe  mental or physical dissabilities

I was about to say. I thought we were done with snatching people. So, you must register and pray that you don't get picked?

I'd refuse also. Throw me in jail. I'm not risking my own life (or worse my "enemies" and make me a murderer).

No thank-you!

Is it really even necessary to have a draft still?

I read that the army fell short of it goal of recruits by 15,000 with a goal of 60,000. And other branches as well. We aren’t in any need to draft, but one argument I read was that mainly people from red states volunteer. Perhaps there is a change in ideologies with younger people from those states but it could be that they don’t agree with the current administration and don’t want to commit to serving under this administration. I am sure there will be no need for a draft ever.
