Luke's defamation trial against Kesha postponed again

Dr. Luke’s defamation lawsuit against Kesha has been postponed again, and is slated for next summer — nearly nine years after the case began.

During a court hearing held over video Friday, Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Jennifer Schecter said the trial would go forward on either June 26 or July 17.
The judge told the lawyers to speak with their clients — neither was present at the hearing — before they finalized the date.

The case had been set for trial in October 2021 and was rescheduled for Feb. 20, 2023, but various rulings and appeals have since delayed the trial. Kesha currently has two appeals pending in the case.

In August, Kesha said she is "more than eager” to face Dr. Luke at a February 2023 defamation trial in New York and accused the music producer of jeopardizing the scheduled showdown by rejecting her repeated attempts to speed up her pre-trial appeals.
 

Kesha and Dr. Luke sued each other in 2014. She alleged that he drugged and r#ped her in 2005 and emotionally abused her for years. He accused her of defaming him, saying she fabricated her claims to try to get out of her record contract.  A court later dismissed Kesha’s sexual abuse claims because of time limits and other legal issues, without ruling on whether the allegations had merit.   source source source

- Kesha lied under oath because Dr Luke found out she was telling people he SAd her, so he threatened her, there's factual evidence of that dating back to 2005, years before her first ever hit. 

- Dr Luke's so called damaged image is able to be put directly on the credits on songs now and not even under pseudonyms

- He keeps postponing lawsuit dates to get more money out of her and obviously avoid something.

I hope this all gets used in the upcoming court dates because to me he's just slowly proving her point

This just makes my soul so sad. 

It's my birthday today but all I can think of is how sad Kesha must be feeling.

I know the feeling of being in a situation forcefully and no way out of it. I'm so glad she has her mother and supportive people around her, otherwise I don't know what would happen.

This is why people never need ask 'why don't they just call the police? Why don't they take them to court?"

Because the system fails people, costs a lot, is time consuming, doesn't take abuse seriously, and favours the rich and powerful

In 2011 during deposition she said under oath that Dr. Luke never made 'sexual advances' and that they never had an intimate relationship.
Later Luke used this old deposition.

• Kesha's lawyer said that before the depo, Luke threatened to destroy Kesha's life and the lives of her family "if she didn't cover up his sexual assault." He also says Luke threatened her physical safety and she thought he was rich and powerful enough to make good on the threat. source
