The idea of making a museum of it was probably too much for the locals. So they built one in a nearby town anyway. From Psycho, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Silence of the Lambs to AHS, Gein remain a vivid source of inspiration. There's a hole in Plainfield Cemetery where dirt has been dug by souvenir hunters after someone stole his gravestone. I think theyâre meant for people who collect (kind of twisted) artifacts of true crime. Of course, as you alluded to, that in itself can be debatably moral.
