They’re both just as bad as each other if you ask me.

I'd love to hear how the far left is not only bad but just as bad as the far right :flutter:

I think that by focusing on this specific part of my post that you’ve missed the point of what I was trying to say. I’d describe myself as centre-left, so yes in my mind I probably would say that the far-right are slightly worse than the far-left, but they’re both pretty awful. My main point though is that we need more politicians/political parties that are more centre-leaning. E.g. Everyone on this thread has been bashing old people and saying “they shouldn’t be allowed to vote”, because the majority of them vote for conservative candidates. But I can almost guarantee that if they were given the option between a right-wing candidate and a centre-right candidate, most of them would go with the centre-right option which would be infinitely better than a right-wing one. Most democracies in the world right now have two major parties and the left are becoming more left-leaning and the right are becoming more right-leaning. We need political parties to meet more closely in the centre and compromise better with one-another to avoid getting some of the awful presidents/prime ministers that countries get stuck with.

Shouldn't we support women? Right or left it's the same for me, I celebrate the fact that Italy never had a female premier, and she may become the first one

Not if said woman is as far right as Trump or worse…Gender isn’t all that matters.

I agree that the growing polarization in politics is a bad thing and there should be more than two options for sure.

I focused into that part of your post 'cause it's the part I found ridiculous :laughga: the whole "both sides" argument just grinds my gears like no other. The worst the left does is cancel celebrities and raise taxes while the right is literally out here ripping away women's body autonomy, upholding racist and xenophobic cultures and laws, stomping on LGBT+ rights, waging literal wars, destroying education, bending to billionaires, etc...they are not comparable AT ALL :air:

I get it if you don't wanna die on that hill, it wasn't your main point anyway, but...I had to say something :messga:

I completely understand what you mean. I probably didn’t word that specific part as well as I could’ve as that wasn’t the main part of the point I was trying to make. But, I will say that I think the reason all of the issues people have with the right-wing candidates are more despised and talked about is that (correct me if I’m wrong) we haven’t really seen a far-left candidate as leader of any major country that I know of. Most countries right now seem to have two major parties, one being right-wing and one being left (but not left-wing). I don’t really know much about other countries minor political parties but here in Australia we have The Greens who I would call left-wing and while I support the majority of their climate policies, the rest of their policies, to me at least, are pretty much garbage. There is virtually zero chance of Australia ever voting in a Greens prime minister but if we did, it would be a disaster. Not quite as bad as a right-wing one, but not far off. The current leader of The Greens is so radical that he refuses to even be seen with the Australian flag which is just ridiculous to me.

I mean...fair? I suppose? I honestly couldn't name any far left leaders. I feel like all we have right now are centrists and fascists :rip:

But again, I'm not sure what kind of damage a far left leader could do. Unless you take it all the way to communism? :laughga:

Why do you believe it'd be a disaster? I'm not on the attack, btw, genuinely curious

In the US we have the center-left Democrats and right wing Republicans. Libertarians are center-right and the Green party is left-wing but those two have virtually zero chance of winning anything.

My main issue with left wing politicians isn't so much their goals but rather the fact that they're rarely pragmatic. Supporting progressive policies is great but if you have no real path to achieve them then you're useless :rip:

So I throw what little weight I have as a leftist voter behind the Democrats 'cause then at least I get something :laughga:

So you'd be fine with electing someone like Hitler so long as they're a woman? 🤡

Voting for someone for the sole reason they are a woman is so 2016. Can we please realize men, women and everything in between have an equal capability to be right wing assholes?

Completely this. Like, we wouldn't cheer if MTG became POTUS just because she's a woman
