His voice was so scarily accurate to how Dahmer speaks in interviews tbh

This is not a drag of Evan, genuinely, honestly, and truly because he's a fantastic actor and he is very good in this series from everything I've heard about it.

But it's time to let this go, honestly. There's an incredibly weird, honestly concerning celebrity culture that surrounds Dahmer more than almost any other serial killer except maybe Ted Bundy. This series does not seek to glorify him (from what i understand it's one of the few adaptations of his story to actually truly villainize him) but that doesn't mean that it doesn't. Giving him a spotlight once more only grows the already too large profile he has.

The families of his victims are very uncomfortable with all of this and always have been, and I can't imagine what it's like for them to look online and see fancams being made out of the show about how their loved ones died, and hell even fancams about the actual man himself, not just Evan playing him. There's a really gross idolization community around Dahmer and the more his crimes get trotted out in films and media, the more that's going to grow.

I think it's time to let the Dahmer story go. Enough is enough.

Thank you for saying this! I’ve been thinking the same things recently. Dahmer is even featured in a handful of pop songs and I don’t see how anyone is comfortable with that. Doesn’t anyone feel uncomfortable about that? Does it not put horrible images in y’all’s heads of what he did? It’s like we’re comfortable with making a joke about what he did. I don’t understand it.

Can I... borrow a piece of your chicken?

No literally it's so insane, but it isn't a surprise.

When Dahmer was alive, people were literally writing him fan letters. The obsession around him is a very strange one and I really don't fully understand exactly where it comes from.

I watched the whole show and I agree with what people above have said. Obviously they wouldn't show the horrific and gruesome things he's done but I think that way, he is presented in a more positive light. In the sense that unless you actually see what he's done you can't really comprehend how sick it was.

And that's because as normal human beings, we get to distance ourselves from people like these and can't fully grasp the situation. People are already making fancams and saying he was a supressed gay and lonely person. In a sense, the Gacy scenes were much more graphic and made me feel absolutely horrible. But that's how you should feel anyways. It's not a joke.

whoever make those fancams are sick. i think anyone who has a developped brain which is around 25 can understand what this show is about, what Dahmer represents etc. It seems younger people from twitter or smth do these fancams, let's not then come to the conclusion that this series was a bad idea. Same could be said about Hitler. Horrible human being, yet countless books and docus. Should we stop talking about hitler? If anything these insanely cruel people should be analyzed further so we can understand us as a species cause yeah, it's pretty insane and unfathomable to commit these kind of acts, and yet it happened, for me i always wonder how and why. Not to mention the US police failing at their job, probably because of racism, injustice all around, so ti's pretty interesting and opens a conversation

the importance of this show is that is shows how a white man got away with targeting POC victims.

it shows how the law and justice system ignored POC and continued to let JD get away with everything.

watch the show.

No, I didn't mean it as that. If anything, I feel like the show could've a bit more "hardcore", as in show him actually strangling his victims instead of the scene going from them drinking to Dahmer cuddling with a body. I feel like it minimizes his horrific acts.

But I'm on the fence regarding the morality, given that the victim's families are not in favour of this and consired it as exploitative. On the other hand, as a non US citizen, I didn't even know about these murders and how racism and homophobia contributed to him continuing for years after several complaints. So it was eye opening to me and others, I assume.

this.

A lot of people don't realise that the reason he got away with it was because of these reasons

I feel like anyone who thinks this particular depiction is glamorising him just haven't watched it? It's the first depiction that's ever shown the sides of the victims/neighbours involved being ignored. That's the true horror of what happened..

and people not understanding why he's being played by a good looking/liked actor should realise that Dahmer being good looking etc is one of the main reasons he got away with all this..

I mean how many of you have gone for a hook up with a good looking guy? Dahmer seemed no different to any of them until he was

correct.  I think this show is more an example of how the justice system is flawed. and how so much of his crimes could've been prevented.  We haven't seen this angle before from any depiction of Dahmer.  This show explores how a monster is created and how he got away with it for so long.  It is important.

and yes, even Zac Efron (before he Fd up his face) played Ted Bundy , Evan Peters is a good fit for Dahmer- I mean, he looks like Dahmer, I don't understand what else people were expecting?  Dahmer had to be decent looking enough to lure these vulnerable men into his trap. we can't dance around that lol It's an accurate representation of the subject

Yeah, but there is a proper way in telling that story and conveying that message and then there is a Ryan Murphy show for Netflix.

you're correct and the two become one in the show.

if you watch it, the show has a very clear and political message in regards to the police and justice system. which is a never ending issue in America.  even today in 2022, and this show takes place in the 1900s!
