bionic 50,111
Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) will announce plans for a new bill on national abortion restrictions Tuesday. That's according to an email from Graham's office on Monday night saying he will hold a press conference with anti-abortion leaders on the introduction of the Protecting Pain-Capable Unborn Children from Late-Term Abortions Act. https://www.axios.com/2022/09/13/lindsey-graham-national-abortion-restrictions-bill Lindsey has already posted the legislative text (which seems to be similar to texts introduced a few times through the 2010s), so its only a matter of time: The bill would ban any abortions post week 15 of pregnancy. States could still ban abortions at an earlier stage.
bionic 50,111
What I find particularly insidious about this bill text is that it chucks in a load of 'scientists accept that' and 'it is generally accepted that' regarding embryonic formation (i.e. X happens by week 3, Y happens by week 5). It makes it pretty clear this is just a stepping stone and a way for more moderate abortion opponents to get on board before the Republicans go mad later. Naturally abortion will be one of their hot topics at the midterms in November
Concertaholic 6,592
So much for the small government, states’ rights argument Republicans love to flaunt. Such evil hypocrites

PhantomOfTheDance 13,795
I hate every single republican. Every single republican deserves a horrible life full of suffering. Vile people.
gothicdream 39,660
Actually kind of surprised by this given how strong the negative reaction has been since Roe v Wade was overturned. I really, truly hope this all backfires on them and it allows Dems to take easy majorities in the election...
Phaye Monster 8,806
I hate this. It’s like we’re going back in time, losing rights daily. I’m not American but still fearful of the precedent this sets, and sympathetic to every person who will suffer because of this. I hope America makes the right choice in voting to overthrow these awful people. I'm an ARTPOP bitch, baby
Nemo 4,411
It's baffling. It's like he wants his party to lose the midterms. Zero chance of this passing so I don't see any purpose to it but vice signaling.
Reginald 13,841
Please let this wildly unpopular stance be the final nail in the coffin for the Republican party, I beg
skaxboy 6,979
Ladybugs G, will you please the fcuk up with your no uterus knowledge mouth? The GOP only pretend to care about these fetuses. If they really cared, they wouldn’t happily reduce and eliminate services to provide care for them.
gabeoz 7,915
This is like the 4th time over the years Lady G has tried to introduce this bill I honestly don’t understand this either, republicans recently lost their anti abortion initiative by overwhelming numbers in one of the most Republican states in the country. Republicans making abortion a/the forefront issue is the worst strategy they can have going into November where they’re already sinking dramatically in the polls. You know something about Lindsay Graham screams off to me and that's not because he is a republican. He seems like he is hiding something sinister and the Republicans are blackmailing him to do **** like this as a strategy. I am not saying he is originally a nice person, but rather he is used as a front man to run stuff like this as a diversion tactic to cover up something huge. We know this wont pass. He contradicted himself this August saying he is leaving abortion rights to the states and he fronts a stupid bill like this. 🩶🩶🩶🩶🩶🩶🩶🩶🩶🩶🩶🩶🩶🩶🩶🩶🩶🩶🩶

Lyndsey doesn't care about how the rest of the nation reacts, he's just doing this to hold on to power in SC. This kitten over here (meow)
