Chromatica Ball has given me a lot of hope for LG7, it seems like she knows exactly who she is right now, and is at peace with Lady Gaga for the first time in a very long time. Also I think the last interlude mentioning nature, again, could really mean something. She has been talking about ideas related to nature since the ending of Chromatica era (sans the tour) and now she mentions it again. Pretty interesting. This show certainly feels like a huge acceptance of all of the hardships she’s been through. I feel like this Your is the perfect balance for where she’s currently at in her career. In Five foot two she question how she could put her outfits on again, how she could never be lady Gaga again. To me, shes finally found exactly who she is, the balance between ash Gaga the super hero and the more Personal human side of herself

And the narrative reflects that journey to acceptance too. She starts feeling trapped by Gaga and ends reclaiming the monster claw and her mother monster 'persona'. TCB really feels like a rebirth of 'Lady Gaga' and she said as much herself when she commented: "You know this bitch here died and came back from the grave?" during 1000 doves. It's like she buried 'Gaga' but was able to bring her back to life again without it making her feel so trapped. subtext / fantasy
Bradley 57,632
I love the analysis but I'm still baffled by the choice of outfit she'd made for the piano section. I've been told it's supposed to be a statement about how her Gaga and Stefani selves could reconcile with each other after the initial struggles but it sounds contrived. If that was the intended statement, I still think a more elegant outfit with a Gaga touch to it would serve better. She is performing Shallow, ARUTW, after all. The narrative gets lost during the piano section and almost every analysis I read flows well until that Act.
27monster27 11,540
Now that you mention the whole "robotic" thing, it actually reminds me of Marry the Night. The intro is ballet themed. In the video for Marry the Night, Lady Gaga talks about her breaking down against beautiful and perfect ballerinas. I think in a way this tour explores the same thing: the breaking down and truth behind this beautiful image. Kind of like Aura in a way too. he/him/his

I think this act is all about Gaga 'reclaiming' who Lady Gaga is and diving into her relationship with her fans. Every song in this section has a direct link to the fans and the conflict she faces of being 'mother monster'. She ends the act singing 'Enigma', where she embraces that role and comes to terms with being idolised and the unique relationship she has with her fans. Thematically, I think it's the clearest act. I think the costume represents her arrival to 'Chromatica'. Having won her battle, she is finally in 'Chromatica', having healed and battled for her life. subtext / fantasy
Alannah 2,949
I'm still thinking about the initial 30 minutes of the show and interludes one week later. Museum of brutality being a metaphor for trauma is a beautiful, haunting sentiment. The prog rock inspirations throughout reminded me of the Rush concerts I went to. I'm convinced her next album/Joker era (if there's any music) will have more rock roots. I wish I got more of that throughout the show, but it seems like the addition of more piano tracks derailed some of it. Which is not a complaint by any means, I'm very thankful for the additions we've gotten! I wish I could take it all in again in person. I can't imagine what folks in the pit experienced, it was impactful even when she was a tiny little dot from my seat, LOL.

Completely agree that the concept of the museum of brutality is fantastic. It really represents the concept behind Chromatica in a brilliant way. The stage - and ball - was the dance floor Gaga fought for... but also a deep dive into how brutal her journey from pain to freedom was. subtext / fantasy
Vengaboy 1,199
Wow…very impressive 💥 Meanwhile I’m there crying and scream singing every song thinking ‘I don’t understand sh*t but damn this is a show for the books YAS GAGA!!’

I honestly think the stark contrast and merging those two worlds/aesthetics makes much more sense with her not compartmentalizing Gaga. I think it is high camp excellence. Not to mention that I think that establishing a direct connection with her audience (as opposed to the more robotic version of Gaga we see at the beginning) is a continuation of the realization of herself in Gaga and vice versa. Nathaniel Arven 1,597
i think exactly the same. also the only ARTPOP thing is when she says free my mind in the beginning. but she never sings ARTPOP songs because this album is about escapism (drugs, sex, rage, fashion...) and here she's confronting brutaly the reality. There is no room for the illusions of the rave. i think it's an important choice that shows her genius and bravery in art.
misham0nster 130
This is how I interpreted the show too! TCB was the first time I've seen her live, though I've been a long time fan. Her openness about her pain is so validating. She takes a stadium full of people and somehow makes it feel intimate, like you're singing with lifelong friends. Such a talented, kind, inspirational person. I'm so glad she put this show together for us. I heard that she told one crowd that, if they were sitting on their porch feeling alone and not knowing what to do, that they could put this record on and she'd be right there with them. I hope she knows that, even when it's hard, we're there with her too and we just want her to have the same joy that she's helped us find in ourselves Would you love me if I ruled the world?
