Dennis 8,391
For the first time since the start of this conflict, Ukraine strikes a crimean target, a russian airbase containing several jets: https://www.nytimes.com/live/2022/08/09/world/ukraine-russia-news-war NYT: "Ukraine claims a rare attack on a Russian air base in Crimea." Russia on the other hand, denies that Ukraine did the attack and blame accidental fire for it.
dit 46,738
attacking what is now Russia proper is going to take this battle from 100 to 200 in a second...this will be scarier than it already is.

What are you talking about, neither is it Russia proper not will it take this battle from 100 to 200. Russia released a statement blaming this on internal accident, not even blaming Ukraine. So you can calm down.
dit 46,738
Just now, Dennis said: What are you talking about, neither is it Russia proper not will it take this battle from 100 to 200. Russia released a statement blaming this on internal accident, not even blaming Ukraine. So you can calm down. I said "what is now Russia proper" obviously I do not agree with its annexation to Russia but de jure it is now Russian territory (Sadly). Yes, Russia might have claimed it is self inflicted to save face but you really think Russia will not retaliate? I think they will...they are already in the middle of an invasion but they can make things even worse for Ukraine which will be devastating. Anyways let's hope that does not happen

Anyways let's hope that does not happen Russia already made life hell for ukrainians. What more can they do? The only thing they haven't done yet is nuclear and chemical weapons because they know it's a red line for the world, including India and China. If those jets are flying everyday dropping bombs on Ukraine they're perfectly legitimate targets. And nothing more Russia can do more than it's already done. You think they're being nice? No. They've reached the peak of their escalation already so nothing more to fear except nuclear strikes, which won't happen anyway.

Nathan 2,079
Good, Ukraine has every right to hit Russian targets to protect Ukrainians. I know over the last few months they have had great success (it seems) hitting targets in Russia. Of course, Russia says it’s an accident or doesn’t acknowledge it at all. 🇺🇦
Admin 24,441
I don’t think Ukraine claimed the attack. We don’t even know if it was an air strike

It seems that they confirm it: https://www.nytimes.com/live/2022/08/09/world/ukraine-russia-news-war "An official said the blast on the Russian-occupied peninsula was the result of a Ukrainian strike. Moscow said only that munitions had exploded. " “This was an air base from which planes regularly took off for attacks against our forces in the southern theater,” the official said, speaking on the condition of anonymity to discuss sensitive military matters. The official would not disclose the type of weapon used in the attack, saying only that “a device exclusively of Ukrainian manufacture was used.”

Hopefully we’ll have more info soon.
Dennis 8,391
More footage. I am super curious as to what was used here to allow Ukraine to strike something 200km away from the frontline
