the chromatica ball is a short tour, its only 18 dates.....

i feel like they really did not want to spend that coin since she wont be performing that many dates.

either way, im still going to see her and im happy shes touring

but just cuz im a stan does not mean i will not criticize her for something she could be doing better

This was like 1% theory and 99% criticizing the stage :laughga:

I saw 54k people dancing and singing and having the time of their life. They didn’t seem concerned about stage production.

I disagree. There was coin involved in the show and it was evident.

Plus - why do we associate complexity with greatness? Sometimes simpler and more curated things hold more power than something over-produced.

I will say I was expecting a "crazier" stage based on the rumor that it was going to be her most complex stage yet but... alas, the stage works well with the concept and I loved the execution.

I agree, BTWB stage is a dream. But I also think the Chromatica Ball stage is such a cool design. The brutalist stage design goes extremely well with the goth-y make up and outfits. I love the concept. Could it have more gimmicks? Sure. Does it need to? No.

The implication that the stage looked like a budget show because it’s not 50+ dates I wild to me :air:

No it’s not a gigantic castle, but it certainly isn’t plain. It’s quite beautiful and reminds me of bit of the sketch of the original stage design for the Monster Ball

This may be my older age speaking but we are just a spectator at the concert. Everything comes from her and her team and we have zero control. There’s no one holding clip boards with surveys asking what could’ve been better. Her story is hers to tell in every era. It will never be for everyone’s taste. I too find some things she does to be unappealing. I know I’m crazy but A Star is Born was just “good” to me and House of Gucci was so boring to me but I just move along and let people who loved it talk amongst themselves. We all have opinions but opening night isn’t a great or respectful time to take a dookie on the stage of the woman we all adore. I’m sure I’ll get roasted for this but again, with my age I don’t care.

Esthetically - perfect. I love how raw and pure it is and it showcases the Nick Knight visuals beautifully.

Practically - sheiße. The 2 big towers flanked by huge screens set up 1 meter off the edge of the stage make it that a large amount of people on the sides cannot see her. Also the staircases to the catwalks completely block Gaga anytime she on the main stage.

In understand giving her a smaller Floorplan so she doesn't exhaust herself walking huge distances, but

I really wonder why the big screens aren't more pushed back so that when she's front stage everyone can see her.

According to Gaga I'm a ****ing rad bitch

Im just fascinated by the fact that she keeps surprising us...a shock artist indeed.

Yeah i got disappointed at the very first look of the stage. But like who else does that right? I mean, museum of brutality...like for real  She is genius in the sense that she really dives into her art. Art is meant to be talked about, to be criticized, admired. Art should make us think, feel. So i accepted and admired it eventually, and that may grow when i see the next shows.

Tech wise, i was really looking forward for any stage contraptions, big movements, lasers, lights... but i guess it doesnt fit her theme for it ..which is totally fine.

The performance collabs better happen though at some point haha! Ariana, BP, Elton... if not, i'll sigh and move on. Life

I think the stage is great, each stage of hers accomplishes what she seems to be striving for on that tour. This tour seems to create an amazing atmosphere, and it’s less about in-your-face staging and more about using the outfits, visuals, lighting, and songs themselves to create that atmosphere. Plus she’s playing nothing but stadiums, so having a “simpler” stage layout and more massive screens helps immerse more fans in the larger venues who may have seats that feel like they’re a mile away. “Simpler” is in quotations because this tour is far from simple, it looks out of this world to me.

The stage is (objectively) not great but it works incredibly with the visuals, her presence and the choreo. It takes a lot of effort to make that happen, so props to her entire creative team.
