I am sorry, but that speaks about your knowledge of music, not his irrelevance.... I mean, PINK FLOYD for crying out loud

I knew who PINK FLOYD is. You didn’t have to put in all caps. I didn’t know who HE was. I really don’t care who he is but he needs to humble himself. This idea that older artists are better than younger artists is delusional. This is why I stan Gaga lmfao. Cuz she doesn’t act like that

I mean, he's not wrong, but saying it like that shows the side of his personality that I always hated and the reason why I stopped caring about him as an artist and person through the years, he's just so full of himself and can't support the younger artists.

So sploosh your juice all over me you Riverboy

Then don't, I don't care that much anyway. Just because you happen to be young and not wanting to listen to Pink Floyd doesn't mean you are ignorant about their importance lol.

This thread begs to differ.

I think the statement is taken out of context somewhat, he said it because the interviewer made a point of saying the weeknd’s gig had more attention that his which is frankly irrelevant.

He's been in the business long enough to know he gave the interview exactly what they're looking for. His music may be more influential. That does not mean he is more important than anyone else. That's a gross thing to say

@KORG I was 16 when Meddle was released and I've always been a Floyd fan since. Waters has always been a gruff character. His claimant and spiteful attitude is nothing new. Besides, It's rare for a star to wane gracefully, Most become bitter old farts. No shade to his talent and his music though.

Late to the party but I got a diamond heart

The influence of Pink Floyd is huge and undeniable in music culture, but Roger Waters is speaking from the same ignorance as any comment here saying “Who?”.

Regardless of the undeniable influence and importance of Pink Floyd, it’s certainly interesting that an old white rocker is calling out and diminishing the work of two black artists that have been hugely important and influential in the worlds of rap and rnb (black music).

I absolutely love Pink Floyd and Waters. But man. He comes across like such an entitled dou**e.

I mean, he's right (though I really like The Weeknd). But sheesh. You're a legend. Act like it.

A stupid way to express opinion tbh. But they’re ****ing Pink Floyd. Whatever they say about themselves, they’ve earned it and some more. But what’s stupid is that they don’t need to bring down Weeknd or Drake cuz nobody would ever compare their legacy to them anyhow. If it’s about coverage in media, they should know by now that it’s not a popularity contest.
