Rogers VP just spoke with reporter (video on link) saying they do not have an ETA on when the problem which started at 5AM Toronto time (13 hours ago and counting) will be fixed

The only progress that was announced was that they are "close to understanding the root of the problem"

1/4 or more of Canadians are without internet as a result and many businesses can only accept cash payments as many machines are down.

Other services like Cellular data are also strained as users without home internet access use phone data instead of they are with another company for their cell

I find it a little laughable that Rogers also said they don't know how all their backups failed...

I don't get how such a giant and profitable company does not have too of the line redundancies to prevent this :toofunny:

I want a refund for whatever amount of time I have no service :rip:

Edit: @LaLa looks like Netflix and YouTube gonna have to keep waiting :laughga:

Oh that sucks. We don’t have a lot of DVDs anymore, but luckily we have a lot of stuff on a hard drive to watch.

But my husband is supposed to have  an online D&D game tonight, he’s getting grouchy lol

Rn I'm paying a special promotional rate and it includes tv channels for my grandmother

But I know their normal monthly rate for unlimited home internet is well over $100 a month :enigma:

But Canada is known for one of the most expensive internet as well as phone service costs in the world.

We have issues with Telecom monopolies as the vast majority of the market is controlled by 3 Giants

Verizon tried to enter Canadian Market years ago and our Telecom Giants successfully brainwashed ppl it was bad to let an American company in that would hurt Canadian companies and they ran those ads everywhere like Radio and ppl bought that crap and thru social pressure the Government didn't approve their entrance into our market

It was badly needed competition tho and ppl have very poor understanding of how little it matters if a company that operates in ur Country is foreign or not. Either way shares holders can be from anywhere around the world and either way they will employ people in your Country and pay taxes for operating there. It does not really matter that much if the biggest shareholder or if the Headquarters is in another Nation

But people bought the crap that American invading our market was bad, and thru that heavy lobbying the 3 Giants kept their monopoly intact :neyde:
