Gaga's weakness and strengths?

Strengths: The sheer breadth and range of her talents and abilities.

I don't think she has substantial weaknesses as a performer. Vocally and as an actress, she strikes me sometimes as a bit undisciplined. She adopts this wide, almost operatic tone in live performance that seems affected and is hard for me to listen to for that reason. She has grown leaps and bounds as an actor as well, but with Patrizia and The Countess, a lot of her line deliveries struck me as uninspired.

Basically, she is a mega-talent, but I'd like to see her improve in some areas.

Weakness: overthinking her art

Strength: Originality, taking art seriously, inspired by the greatests and respecting them, likes to put on a show, never dull, always looks for something within, deep, vocal performer, extravagant and different

Siena

Strength: Her versatility, Piano Skills, Composing and wiring skills, the star power she naturally exudes

Weakness: Sometimes she forgets who she is, and in an effort to credit others in her life (Bradley Cooper) she lets herself down by making it seem like they are the only reason she could do something, when she is talented and capable enough to do it on her own.

Her strength is her boldness, it’s what made everything she did in the first five years of her career stand out. She’s talented, but she wasn’t afraid to mess around with the talent to create something unique.

Her weakness is her overestimating herself, and thinking kindness is the secret ingredient that’s been missing all along. This is not an attack on her personal character, but no one can convince me her long term collaborators from the early days did not have a huge influence in the shaping of her career and the delivery of some of our favourite Gaga projects.

It seems like since Joanne, creatively speaking, Gaga’s career has been stagnant. I personally attribute it to her overestimating what she and her current team can put out that they consider groundbreaking and entertaining in today’s pop era. I find it alarming that newer artists are easily outdoing her (as far as interest is concerned) without half the hype and backing. Since she’s exclusively become a ‘brand’ she’s been extremely out of touch with everything that connects us to her music/art and that’s a big no no.

Strengths: super mega talented, headstrong and kind

Weaknesses: the attention span of a 3-year old (drops the ball as soon as it doesn’t go her way) and kind

Now for the weaknesses and do not come at me!!!  :selena:

I get the feeling she is difficult to work with and wants everything her way. I think a strong leader is a good team player and they bring out everyones strengths and realize when they needs to be quiet and listen. I think Gaga becomes too bossy and thinks shes right all the time. This inhibits the creativity of her colloborations. No offense to Joanne but when I heard Mark Ronson was producing the album, I was excited. Then when I heard it, it felt as though his creativity was sucked out.

Also, her chroeography is getting kind of boring. She has been using the same moves for some songs for a while now and the fast, intense choreography is getting old. She should change it up with new styles, and maybe slow it down as well?

Finally, she should reinvent her songs during tours. It was unfortunate to hear the same songs from her career beginnings being played the same way in her tours years later. I mean, adding some rock to it is kind of lame... really change it up and experiment.

I feel like this is probably true (and a weakness) for a lot of the big artists (doesn't make them bad people imo, but I could also see how it might be detrimental on an artistic level). To get to a certain level, there has to be a very dominant/type A aspect of someone's personality... and I could easily see it translate to the art produced (as in, they can recognize other people are creative but they still don't want them touching/shaping their vision).  For Gaga, I think it happened with ARTPOP and Joanne.

And agree-love her live, but it would be fun if she mixed it up a bit more with different live versions.

Cynthia don't come for me but I want to say that with Chromatica, Gaga exposed herself as a subpar lyricist. Lyrically this album is very weak and uninspired, so is Hold My Hand. Maybe that was the point because it's dance music, but I felt like she had much more complexity to offer around TFM/BTW eras.

Strength: Vocals. Gaga is one of the best vocalists working today. Some fans on here come for her singing, but even her 'weak' performances outstrip 95% of the current popular singers. Visuals/atmosphere. Ability to perform live...again, some fans on her clowned on Vegas-but critics praised the show (even if a few snarked on the monologues lol)-and her live shows are almost always critically acclaimed.

Weakness: Like a lot of artists, Gaga probably takes too big of a role sometimes in production, concert planning, etc. Feel like she should have let Mark Ronson just do his thing more on Joanne. And Engima was critically acclaimed, but the monologues were quite silly and one has to think that was probably her (and not her music/art director) who came up with them. She sometimes chooses an odd style that isn't the most flattering to sing in....I get why she does it, but it doesn't always work (aka Dope).

*Not really a strength or weakness, but I think (like Ariana, Bey, etc.) Gaga is just tired of the public relations grind....especially as the media will go after her for barely anything (not saying she's perfect, but she often gets taken out of context or people overreact to the littlest things). So when people wonder why other artists get more attention, etc....I don't think it's because Gaga doesn't care about the music but more that she doesn't care about doing the PR dog and pony show anymore...when she used to love it. Besides, there is ageism...

Joanne has her best lyrics imo. IDK I think Replay is really good (dig a grave, etc. is a wonderful line) as is Sine from Above, but I also agree Chromatica has some of her weakest lyrics on other tracks.

Strength: voice, ambition, versatility. My favourite thing about her is her massive knowledge of art, music, fashion and pop culture in general, she has such a huge pool of references that she can use intelligently

Weakness: Her desire to juggle so many projects can come at the expense of their quality, and also our ability to enjoy them. I wish she would spread out her projects more rather than having long stretches of silence then doing everything all at once. Additionally the fact she insists on working with some of her incompetent friends makes her looks/videos/performances suffer, sorry

I also think the fact she reached such massive highs so early in her career has led to her becoming a bit complacent. She has nothing left to prove as a pop star or vocalist, so I feel like now the only times we see her really go all out is when she's acting, because she still feels like she needs to prove herself

Honestly I felt Chromatica had many of her most poetic and mature lyrics ever.

Of course we need to ignore SL and Plastic Doll here lol. But 911, Enigma, Replay, SFA etc's lyrics seem so much more sophisticated, so much more devoid of clichés, than Joanne and ASIB imo, it almost seems like a different person wrote them
