It was unexpected to see China not strongly back Russia at first, but now the path seems to follow more expected trajectory. Central Asia, Mongolia, even Egypt traditionally favour Russia or China. West's allies in Asia are Japan, Phillipines, South Korea, Taiwan, Israel, Saudi Arabia, Turkey. India is the big power that could seek to align itself with the US if China becomes too threatening. Someone said this is like the forming of blocs, when all countries need to decide their orientation and it kinda feels like it. Though there are still many, many ambigous countries that play both sides.
