Fact is even the experts don't know the main reasons. I've seen polls on Twitter and "I don't care about a story of Lightyear" seems to be the top reason why ppl don't want to spend money on this film. Also, there's still a tight competition among hits like Top Gun, Jurrasic World on its releasing week. And tbh, what is wrong with films just telling fun stories? How about calling the complete absence of queer people in media "forced queer erasure" instead? Erasure of queer people is also political.
