Russia to sanction Moldova after receiving EU canditate status

Moldova's accession to the European Union is not directly possible, so the creation of "new Greater Romania" is inteded, says former Russian President and current Vice President of the Russian Security Council, Dmitry Medvedev. 

"The West is trying, almost legally, to ban Russia from getting close to the Ukrainian people, provoking a deepening of the conflict in every possible way. But as for Romanians and Moldovans, the situation is different. Officials in Bucharest, incited by the "integrators" in Brussels, are haunted by the idea of recreating the Greater Romania project, buried by the "Red Army during the Great War for the Defense of the Fatherland". Romanian authorities ''arrogantly perceive'' the territory between the Dniester and Prut as their temporarily separated province", the official also wrote.

He accused politicians in Chisinau of wanting to reunite with Romania of treason, stressing that they were destroying their country for thirty pieces of silver. At the same time, says Medvedev, there will be consequences for the Republic of Moldova, including the increase in energy prices and the interruption of other resources.

It's so damn stupid how they come up with random conspiracy theories like that ignoring the fact that people in countries like Moldova, Georgia or Ukraine have been calling to join the EU for years willingly... Their fear of a Russian invasion made things only quicker 
This joke of a goverment that Russia has should focus on the situation in their own regions rather than trying to meddle in neighbouring ones.

Exactly! If Romania and Moldova eventually decide to unite due to their deep cultural, linguistic and historical ties, this is on Romania and Moldova. It's not Russia's business to oversee the decision of two independent countries. If Moldova chooses EU over CIS, so be it.
