When Boyz was released they wanted hype, they got a big name feature, a well shot video etc, she was starting to hit promo until the Jingle Bell Ball backlash. They would not launch a pop star's solo career in such a big way with nothing planned to follow it. It doesn't make sense. It's her LEAD single. She clearly had at least a few tracks lined up to follow Boyz but because of the feedback and backlash, they've had to have a rethink.
