The tweet and meme was definitely meant to throw shade, but I don't think at the LGBTQ+ community. It probably is an eyeroll at how there will be Pride visible everywhere (media, companies, etc.) during June and then go back to silence on July 1.

Personally, I'm fine with all the hype because it allows the celebration to be more normalized. Celebrating Pride shouldn't just mean "I'm not straight and proud of it" - it should also mean "I'm straight and accepting of everyone."

IMO, with Pride being more normalized over the past few years I've seen a lot more straight allies posting their support and celebrating. That's what we need - not gatekeeping this to only those in the community.

Corporations profiting off gay imagery while exploiting their gay workers via wage theft is not material progress. It anesthetizes Gay Liberation and waters it down so straights can feel good about themselves with performative activism. Imo it’s short-sighted to think this illusion is any form of progress as gay rights are actively under threat in several places around the world that these corps ACTIVELY uphold (via doing business, supporting homophobic politicians, etc.)

Corps know exactly how profitable this bullshit is otherwise they wouldn’t do it. It’s not intended for the gay population but for the growing population of straight “allies.” Most market research shows this.

hmmmm i get ppl calling companies calling out using the lgbt community during pride month to gain sales and engagement, but the opposite would be what we had a few decades ago where people got ZERO representation and being gay was not something celebrated in any way shape or form. and elon has clearly become super republican - his tweets about moving further to the right claiming the left has become too woke, when clearly he only wants to vote for reps because the right will protect his right to hoard 260 billion dollars, while dems want to force the rich to pay a proportionate amount of taxes. elons also a proud racist so im not shocked hes being homophobic.

its hilarious to me that republicans who make 50k a year have chosen this dude as their champion, when its clear hes only using them as pawns to elect another donald trump to allow him to abuse tax loopholes to continue expanding his wealth while 95% of america struggles to pay bills and put food on their tables.
