I saw a whole album performed live, and dare say I loved it

At the end of last year I went to see Bring Me The Horizon perform their album Post Human Survival Horror

This album was written during and conceptually about COVID, and I absolutely loved it

This show was performed on the side of their arena tour, and they did the album from start to finish

And now I’m bittersweet about it! I LOVE the idea of hearing a great album from start to finish, and I’m not mad they didn’t perform anything else

It’s such a double edged sword, because imagine going to see Gaga perform Chromatica and her not performing the hits? But I do love this format

And I absolutely respect the grind of Bring Me The Horizon essentially doing 2 tours at the same time, they clearly cared about this album a lot

THE CONFLICT :saladga:

Which albums from which artists you like to see albums performed from start to finish?

Idgaf about Just Dance or Poker Face, I'd be very happy if TCB was just the tracklist in order (never going to happen though)

Yeah partially because they want to sell tickets to casual fans I guess - and I’m guessing a lot of stans expect the classics too

I know idiots who went to see Fleetwood Mac some years ago, and complained because they played so many songs they didn’t know (from their new album) :ladyhaha:

Bradley

She could do it maybe for an album rollout but not a worldwide tour. iTunes Festival was the only event where she only performed songs from a new album.

To me it's all about the marketing. Either type of show is fine, as long as the artist is clear about it beforehand, so that people don't go in with false expectations. Obviously a huge, 'regular' stadium tour by Gaga will attract people who want to hear the hits, and a lot of people would be disappointed if she didn't at least sing some hits. But if an artist would want to do a show for the stans, a smaller venue and different marketing could help.

One of the best examples I can think of:

This is definitely something I can see Taylor doing later in her career - a tour just filled with deep cuts and fan favourites. Not sure Gaga would ever do it - she only really seems to perform her pop music when there's huge money... which wouldn't be the case for a smaller tour for fans only. I also think she only really performs her pop music out of contractual obligations anyway. When was the last time she just put on a pop show for some fun and not because she had to? I guess Coachella in 2020 would've been that...

I would be here for it! But honestly this would be an absolut short Show!

The Album is like 45min long.

When we ad a bit talking, some extended versions and dancebreaks we would have a maximum show of 1h05min. I would be a bit disappointed...

Post Human album is only 32 minutes long and honestly it was a great show! No elaborate stages or costume changes or anything, it was just about the music.
