Sinn Fein are heavily in favour of a United Ireland. They will now be a border poll on NI rejoining Southern Ireland. Blue smoke is the heartbreak train

The state of Northern Ireland was created to permanently serve a British identifying population in favour of remaining in the UK. Sinn Féin winning was never supposed to happen. Most pro-United Ireland and Irish identifying people in Northern Ireland couldn’t even vote, get public sector jobs or get social housing until 50 years. This is so seismic, and it just demonstrates the great change in Irish society in just 50 years. A referendum on Irish Unity will not happen anytime soon. The campaign was focused on the everyday issues, like healthcare and the cost of living. However, Sinn Féin look likely to win the next election in the Republic of Ireland, which would accelerate the case for a referendum on the international stage.
