safe to say both movies managed to score iconic soundtracks 🔰

i haven't seen the original movie but the song is just pure nostalgic magic, is so smooth and the instrumental is just ethereal and lovely.

HMH feels a little more aggressive, dramatic and passionate which is amazing just not my tea.

i know it's unfair to ask this on GGD but i trust y'all will be honest, plus the vote is anonymous so.

I had never heard Take My Breath Away before, so I can say I recently heard both songs for the first time very recently, and I think I can be quite neutral:

From the first listen, I enjoyed both equally. I didn't fall in love with them, but I still liked them. Both have strengths and weaknesses (is that an actual word? :laughga:) in my opinion, the chorus being a weak point for both songs I think. But Hold My Hand has great vocals, and Take My Break Away has a great vibe and nice synths. :vegas:

Take My Breath Away, there is no comparison, it's an absolute legendary classic.... the instrumental alone is breathtaking

I’m glad to see everyone being unbiased (so far at least) in their voting. However I still voted for Hold My Hand, regardless of Gaga or anything I still prefer the song. I completely understand the nostalgia factor TMBA has for a lot of people, it’s definitely a classic, but Hold My Hand is just a bit more suited to my taste, plus the lyrics really hit deep for me. I’ve been a support system for many friends in their tough times and this song reminds me of them, telling them that I’m there for them.

I’m interested to see how HMH is used in the movie. TMBA was used within the original movie and just kind of added to the hype for it. I may have to go see the new one to evaluate.

TMBA is an iconic pure classic song. Hold My Hand is a nice song, too, but is still too new, but hopefully will be considered a classic, too, at some point.

It's difficult to compare both since HMH was released on Tuesday and TMBA was released 36 years ago.

Both are epic ballads tbh.

Well if we're going to ask people to be honest, that means asking them to accept the possibility that that 36 year old classic that has a place in their heart may not be as good as a new song that they heard for the first time this week. I've listened to both songs back to back a couple of times and I prefer HMH. It has more power, more punch, TMBA sounds ever so slightly pedestrian by comparison.

I really was hoping Gaga would top TMBA, all the hype was making me think she would, but HMH was just ok, I don’t think it will be as memorable tbh :crossed:

i think, judging by the original theme song, an alt band like Tame Impala was more suitable for this movie, with lots of synths and airier vocals

i think Gaga is trying to replicate Shallow's formula
