Well, Demi previously announced that she identified as non-binary and her pronouns were they/them. Now it looks like she's continuing her journey and is welcoming she/her pronouns.

Basically, there are no "rules". This is outdated and we need to wipe it. Humans are made to evolve and change. It's biology :bear:. So if Demi is now more in touch with a fem part of herself or whatever reason she added she/her, so be it! Literally doesn't impact us negatively in any way.

Please y'all be kind. The hate towards non-binary folks is far too much.

omg i love youuu:heart:

so does this mean you can exclusively refer to demi as she/her? or as a mix (like halsey, i think?)

i saw the other day someone said their friend’s pronouns were he/they/she and to mix it all up in sentences and the caption was the most confusing thing i’ve ever read but you do you

you don't have to, you can refer to her as she/her, but its always nice when someone uses all your pronouns

I have a nb friend and he uses he/him and they/them, I try to mix it up sometimes so he can feel seen:heart:

Some of you all are so quick to write Demi off as seeking attention. Just because you don't like Demi doesn't mean that their identity and ever-evolving experiences aren't valid. They changed their bio. They didn't even make a post. This seems like a pretty bad way to seek attention. Besides, it's not the people who are affirming that are turning this into a conversation.

Also, I think its interesting to note that Demi, who is AFAB, put They/Them before She/Her. One might infer that means there is a precedence. Even if there isn't, it's still important to ask "why would someone who is AFAB specify that their pronouns are she/they when people would probably assume they used she/her pronouns anyway?" The answer seems pretty obvious to me.

It's biology

I don’t think changing her mind about her pronouns has anything to do with biology :triggered:

She’s not evolving biologically, she’s not a Pokémon

These sub categories give far too much weight to gender.  You’re allowed to like, indulge and relate to things outside of gender-norms, we’re all individual people with individual interests and emotions.

I don’t think drilling down to find exactly where you think you currently sit on this scale and getting a label from strangers on the internet is a healthy way to understand or approach gender.

Why do you think that? Because it wasn't necessary for you to do to be comfortable with your understanding of your gender?

I am nonbinary as are most of my friends and am active in community in real lfie and online. The general consensus among folks who use multiple sets of pronouns is as I mentioned  - use both sets unless otherwise stated via preference or some other reason.

How about just using "they"? I called them "her" all day yesterday and it felt weird :bear:

Like, is it expected to use both neutral and feminine pronouns in the same sentence? :bradley: 'Cause I feel like that's confusing :bradley:

She is seeking attention. She doesn’t get any through her crap music so she pulls these antics. Nothing new.

You literally took this out of context and missed the point of my entire post. Non-binary and trans people have been around a long time. We just now are coming to a point in culture where our vernacular is changing and the lens on these types of situations is changing.

Biologically, our brains and bodies change throughout our lifetime.

Biology - the study of living organisms, divided into many specialized fields that cover their morphology, physiology, anatomy, behavior, origin, and distribution (Oxford Languages)

But I'm sure you'll come up with some snarky clapback to boost your confidence, completely missing the point of this discussion :bye:
