I don't even understand. He want to avoid discussing his sexuality but randomly asked the crowd who is bisexual and then said "I am"? How does that even happen?

He should've handled it like Daddy Tom Hardy :lolly:

"I don't find it difficult to talk about my sexuality," he said while refusing to answer a simple question about his sexuality.

A queer reporter, for a queer publication, asked an actor who is playing a queer character, about the difficulties in talking about his own queer experiences to the media...not only was it a totally reasonable question, but Tom's awkward and dismissive response completely confirms why the reporter needed to ask the question.

Love Tom, but this was some awkward ****. :toofunny:

But I think the more important notion to take from this is Tom chose the role, he's obviously secure enough to play a queer character (if he is straight), in this regard, why does it matter what his sexuality is? It has no bearing on his performance. Furthermore, why ask someone's sexuality during a press conference, rude.

It's not like he was Eddie Redmayne playing a trans character and the movie is all about transness, or Sean Penn playing Harvey Milk and it being all about his fight for gay rights. Tom Hardy's film didn't revolve around the LGBTQ+ experience. That's the difference, for me, anyway.

I think it's semantics, really. Nothing is wrong with experimenting and figuring out your sexuality. But for decades, "just a phase" has been used to explain gay people away and minimize their experience.

In the past Tom has spoken about his sexual experiences with men. The reporter asked if it was difficult for him to speak publicly about his queer experiences. That isn't rude.

It's a particularly appropriate question given Tom was promoting a project about two famously queer public figures who struggled with addressing their sexuality publicly. That is why a queer publication was invited to the press conference.

Tom's evasion of the question made the question more poignant. In my opinion.

I don't think he handled this in a great manner at all :nooo: "what are you on about?" like...... mama.. just answer the question. YOU (tom) have been elusive about it, so.. it's a very fair question about celebrities and sexuality in general.

Lmao idk about y'all but I don't really like when people ask my sexuality, unless I'm at the free clinic so :trollga:

For me it's literally the equivalent to when reporters asked Britney if she was still a virgin when she was like 19 or whatever :neyde:

Sis are you high? :classy:

Q: Are you asking me my sexuality?

A: Sure

Sure = yes, confirmation. So we can agree the question, regardless how you ask, is "what is your sexuality?"

Y'all got me so worked up about this and all I wanna do is enjoy my @Tom Hardy fantasy OKAY
