It's simple, really.

This provokes the left into screaming about transphobia (which this 100000% is, it's f*cking disgusting, and we should do everything we can to support trans youth until it's rectified).

That, in turn, provokes the right into screaming about the "woke liberals".

Then the left voters and right voters are pissed at each other.

And any time the voters are pissed and in the midst of a culture war, they're too preoccupied to fight the class. war.

That gives cover to the GOP to pull whatever strings they want to accumulate money and power.

Put simply: Culture wars = profit for the Repugnants.

This whole thing, imo, is a diversion. The "Don't Say Gay" bill, the spat with Disney, the anti-abortion bills, and now this horrid piece of legislation. They have us fighting over our basic rights and the rights of those we love so there's less heat on things like DeSantis' new congressional map that just completely destroyed the power of two of the four main PoC districts in Florida thus expanding Republican control into 20 Trump won districts and 8 Biden ones.

And what are Floridian Democrats to do? Challenge it in the state's congressional floor? They're massively outnumbered there, even more so in the future, despite the number of blue and red voters being about even in the state itself.

Take it to the state courts? It's mostly Republican installed judges there.

Take it to the country's supreme court? Conservatives outnumber us 6-3 there. One of them is married to an insurrectionist, two of them are fools, the other 3 are Reagan-like conservatives which might as well be synonymous with sh*tty in this day and age.

I fear Florida is just the ugliest tumor - the biggest symptom - of the US' grim political cancer. We're being held hostage by a dying political party with unpopular beliefs and they have all the morons they need to accumulate as much money and power as they can, to do as much damage to our democracy as they can, before the boomers die off and they lose ANY hope of winning a fair election again.

Oh man, DeSantis really hates transgender people. He is so scummy. The Surgeon General of Florida is very questionable himself. 

I really don’t understand where this bigotry stems from. There’s a super small percentage of trans youth and instead of showing support to these youths, they chose to drive them into hating they exists.

Any criticism of this and you’ll have the Q Anon dumb a ssess spew their idiotic “you’re a PDF file!” DeSantis is a leader for these uneducated clowns.

I’ve been reading about his drama with Disney. Disney is a private company, I would surely hope Disney bans the DeSantis family from their parks and properties.

This is so infuriating I don’t even have the words, I have friends who have socially transitioned and still face mental trauma from the discrimination they have faced in their youth and still do face. These regressive attitudes and laws are asinine and despicable.

Why would u care? Leave people alone. Problem in the US Christianity is the guide to everything. Republicans are too religious and too extreme. Doesn’t look like a democracy with them

I always had thought Florida was a purple state for some reason and that States like Texas, Kentucky, Tenasee, Nevada etc were the most conservative

 

I been surprised at how often Florida has the most conservative laws

Well it was always a myth since people’s principles, in general, are guided by their faith or lack thereof. So there’s never been a legitimate separation even if there has been a formal one. This is the end result of decades of giving religious lobbyists their desires

Ok so…how is a doctor going to have any authority over what a patient wears?  like this is just out to scare people and give DeSantis a platform to run for President

 

tbh though idk I think he’s too big of a dipsh*t to actually be elected. He’s as unlikable as Trump without being even 10% as ironically amusing/charismatic. Like he just screams violent corporate pig. You can only sell that to the majority of R voters with the Trump brand imo. No one else in the GOP has what he has which I’m SHOCKED to be finding myself giving that man credit but here we are. The GOP needs someone bland but evil to go up against Biden and win because Biden only won because Trump was crazy af and that turned off the “sensibility” crowd.

So DeSantis is going to toil in political mediocrity as far as I see so far.
