I don't care about the first week of sales, I think the key point is the longevity here. Also because the movie isn't out yet, the song will luckly repeak when Top Gun is in theatres.

Releasing a single on any day other than Friday is stupid, even more so now that the airplay tracking week coincides with the tracking week for the other metrics (sales and streaming).

For artists like Gaga who have radio deals for lead singles, there's never been a better time to release singles. All of her lead singles have suffered from missing the first three days of the radio tracking week which are usually the biggest days for singles on radio. Applause and Stupid Love would hit the Top 3 and Perfect Illusion would hit the Top 10 under the new rules.

Yes, longevity is the key to a successful single, however, we know the way radio treats Gaga singles, Rain on Me only got #10 on pop radio with the help of Ariana who is a pop radio darling, you can't expect longevity if the radio doesn't embrace a song.

I know the song will have a repeak when the movie hits theaters but a good first week peak is not something to be ruled out as you only need 150 points to enter the current Top 10.

Excluding the radio, I really don't think monsters will buy and stream this song so much in the first week. I don't know, I have this feeling. Happy to be proven wrong tho.
