The Oscars and The Grammys are all suffering, but for different reasons. The Oscars rewards what they think to be the best, but people don't care about those movies. The Grammys rewards what's popular, but that make them look irrelevant, just like the Oscars are becoming. Giving AOTY to Sour, cheapens the ceremony. Gaga was 1000x more huge than Olivia when she first appeared to fame, but she didn't win AOTY. Why do you think Olivia deserves it? She doesn't.

I mean I get that but if it were just about quality, there are tons of amazing albums that never see the grammys because they're not popular. All i'm saying is i'll be so happy for gaga and tony's win but if i'm choosing i would pick a different album

The Grammys try to "honor artistic achievement, technical proficiency and overall excellence in the recording industry, without regard to album sales, chart position, or critical reception." I know they care about charts and popularity a lot, but technically it's not a factor. And just because the pop singers have 'worked their ass off' doesn't mean they deserve the award. Tony recorded the album and performed it while having Alzheimer's. By your own logic, Tony has worked harder. 

Anyway, I think Bille or Olivia will win.

Those odds are not reflective of her predictions. So L4S has lower overall odds than HTE and Sour, but Joyce predicts L4S will win anyway

Gaga not winning AOTY when she deserved it doesn't justify giving it to her now because (theoretically speaking at least) we are judging albums based on their merit and excellence, not based on who recorded them and whether they were robbed in the past or not. That's unfair to current artists and frankly quite insulting to their work. I don't think L4S has the merit or that it's that excellent of an album to deserve a win, and on top of that it wasn't a huge album popularity-wise. 

I don't like Sour but Olivia worked hard for her success and the album was huge and had a lot of impact so she 100% deserves it more. Nothing about it cheapens the ceremony. What cheapens it is giving it to underserving albums just because of who's behind them and their status in the industry, and this applies not to only to this year but to many years prior. 

If it were up to me, I'd give it to Billie without hesitation because I love that album and think its by far the best album on the list, but I don't think she'll get it this year sadly.

She should have been nominated AND won with A Star is Born. That album was a HUGE commercial success and was a critical success. Not only that, but Shallow came from it one of the biggest songs EVER. Ugh I’m so mad. The Fame Monster, Born This Way, and A Star is Born deserved. I won’t be mad if Love For Sale wins obviously but it’ll feel weird
