Has Jon Batiste ever performed on an award show. I still find it so perplexing that I never heard of him before and he got 11 noms. I mean I watched Soul and I get he did the music for that but scoring a movie is a pretty rare way to become the non-soundtrack, general Grammy leader in a strong year.

I know him from his band and Stephen Colbert's show :lolly:

He’s the band leader on Colbert. He’s pretty famous.

We need a Jon Batiste and Gaga collab.

I think Billie should win AOTY but I’m sure Olivia will take it. This is her night.

She lost SOTY. I don't think any of them will win it.

Is his band popular outside of Colbert’s show?

:bradley:

Years don’t mean a thing for Tony Bennett.

The 95-year-old Queens-born crooner became the second-oldest Grammy winner Sunday night when he and Lady Gaga won best traditional pop vocal album for “Love for Sale,” their collection of Cole Porter standards.

Bennett’s win comes almost 60 years after he scored his first nominations at the fifth Grammy Awards in 1963, where he won record of the year and solo vocal performance for “I Left My Heart In San Francisco.”

A legend :applause:

I think it’s fair to say, they mutually helped their careers a lot. I know the narative is that Tony saved Gaga’s career back in 2014, which indeed is something I also believe in but, I also believe she brought a spark of creativity and energy to his music which has also introduced him to a new audience of people. Not to mention, all the press buzz the two releases had were because of Gaga. But beyond that, what they truly gifted each other is the the most beautiful thing in the world, which is love and friendship. I think that, will outlast any Grammy win and any record sold. What a beautiful thing we witnessed, two different worlds colliding into this magnificent, never before seen, relationship. We love you TonyGaga
