Twitter Now Requires iOS 14 As Minimum. Stops Working On iPhone 6 & 6+.

iPhone 6 was discontinued by Apple years ago, but there are still some people who use it as their main smartphone since you can still install some apps from the App Store. Unfortunately, some users noticed on Wednesday that Twitter abruptly stopped working on iPhone 6 models, as the app now requires a device with iOS 14.

As reported by users on the web, the Twitter app has simply stopped working on the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. While you can still see some tweets on the timeline, pretty much every other part of the app no longer works. 9to5Mac was able to confirm that Twitter is indeed not working properly on the iPhone 6.

Unfortunately, at this point, there’s not much iPhone 6 users can do. As analyzed by 9to5Mac, Twitter app dropped support for iOS 12 in early 2021 – so both iPhone 5s and iPhone 6 users can no longer run the latest version of the app since last year.

Following a Twitter update this week that also dropped support for iOS 13, the old version of the app that still runs on iOS 12 can no longer load all tweets.

If for some reason you still have an iPhone running iOS 13, you can still get the latest version of the Twitter app by upgrading to iOS 15 since all iOS 13 compatible devices support the latest version of iOS currently available. As for iPhone 5s and iPhone 6 users who are stuck on iOS 12, the only workaround is to use Twitter through its website.

I suppose more services  will start doing this too to the phone. It is hard when it's no longer supported.

RIP to all 6 & 6 Plus users

Hope y'all will be given opportunity to upgrade y'all device soon

To be fair, this is a 2014 phone. My friend's iP6 is almost unusable today.

Spoiler

She switched to 11 last year and we did drop tests with the 6.

I am wondering how slow it might be? Does it slide pages smoothly still? Or perhaps battery drains fast etc? :oprah:

My husband replaced his iphone 6 a few months ago, the phone finally showed it's last days.

He's scared of new tech, so it was the only way to make him move a new phone, we decide that the SE is the best for him, he still can't say goodbye to the button, but needs to move on to a new ios and features.

I don't think it's time to change my Xs either, the phone is still perfect.

So sploosh your juice all over me you Riverboy

Sucks but neat that it's lasted this long. Ideally phones should last longer.

And for anyone out there with an iPhone 6, you can still use the web version on Safari.

I am astounding as I see y'all normalizing this behavior of companies as if it should be like this. None of y'all are complaining and taking it as a fact.

If Twitter works on multiple Androids (which have a **** ton of models and sizes) why would it stop supporting a not so old OS. I'm in shock I still remember iphone 6 as a recent phone less than 10 years, so it baffles me that they're discontinuing support for that.

Unless this also happens to Android OS but haven't seen it.

As an android user looking in on Apple it kinda seems like yeah, new android stuff is churned out at a rapid pace, but things become actually obsolete much slower than Apple products do.

I still have an old "off brand" android from...god, probably 2013 or 2014. I remember having it at the artRAVE. It works perfectly fine with just about everything I use. I connect it to my wifi and download my Spotify songs onto it so I can plug it into the radio at work but still have my actual phone with me :billie:

Meanwhile my friend has an older iPod or iPhone, Idk which it is, from around the same time and it's basically a paper weight.

Whimsical bitch

I still have an iPhone 7. :bradley: I went from having 4S to 5S the years they all came out and then 7 the same way. They've been coming up with so many models lately that I just stopped caring about having the newest one lmao I can't believe I've taken good care of it for so long. I really want to upgrade to iPhone 12, I really like that design, the edges remind me of the 4 and 5 generations.

This also sucks for any Apple product. iMac keeps coming up with new OS updates then all of a sudden you see that your computer no longer supports the new OS. :cyanlights: They force us to keep buying stuff every 5 years.

Apple continuing to trick it's silly followers into "exclusivity". They don't care about making quality products, they care about making money. It's sick.

I mean it’s a feat that the 6 lasted 6 years with updates, but I guess it’s where android flexibility comes handy, you can easily install apps without them being OS dependent. You can still use iP6 but then apps would stop working.

This is me. The only difference is that im broke to buy a new one. The government in my country introduced a mobile phone tax. You have to pay $550 after purchasing the latest model. :messga:
