So I've never actually looked up Pie Jesu. Flop fan :enigma:

It seems to be a Latin song about Jesus ushering the lost to their eternal rest :bradley:

I definitely want to look into it more later :bradley:

this is what I enjoy about these megarates, it gives me a chance to delve into the album / era more and find out these things!

No, don’t apologize!! It’s perfectly fine! Username changes can cause problems, I get it.

Random but his hair was done differently at this HWT date :sis:

You can really see it better during Wanna Be Startin' Somethin', around 17:00. It's almost done in the DWT style but with the HWT length. I like it :flutter:

I'm glad you enjoyed some of the songs, hopefully that made it worthwhile to listen to the album! History the song took a long time to grow on me :laughga:

Thanks for voting btw :flower:

Random but I got the itch to pick out as many dates as I could from the song History just to see what MJ deemed "historic". I am not disappointed :lolly: There's obviously a lot more dates or quotes that I can't make out (they're during the last chorus or in that jumbled bit at the end) but it's pretty interesting what he drew inspiration from! Lots of black empowerment going on too. MLK, Cassius Clay (Ali), Rosa Parks, the civil war ending, the Chicago riots. Some music and art related things. Beethoven's death, Edison recording sound, Billie Holiday, but my favorite art the feats of science :tony: aviation, the first shuttle launch, and the moon landing :bradley:

March 26th, 1827 - Beethoven dies of liver disease at 56

November 28th, 1929 - Richard E. Byrd makes his 1st South Pole flight

"Whatever I sing, that's what I really mean. Like I'm singing a song. I don't sing it if I don't mean it." - MJ, 1970

"Remember it will be for us, the children of today, to make the world of tomorrow a better and happier place" - Princess Elizabeth's Wartime Broadcast on Oct. 13, 1940

"We made it! Charles A. Lindbergh first person to fly from New York to Paris nonstop" - Pathe News report, 1927

"And that was a page of history that will probably stand for a long time." - ???

Most of the song itself is here :haroon:

"I have a dream!" - Martin Luther King Jr's "I have a dream" speech, August 28th, 1963

"I am happy to join with you today in what will go down in history as the greatest demonstration for freedom in the history of our nation." - Martin Luther King Jr's "I have a dream" speech, August 28th, 1963

"I'm the greatest of all time" - Muhammad Ali, February 1964, before his fight with Sonny Liston

December 1921 - A violent riot, involving an estimated 360,000 people, broke out in the U.S. city of Chicago when police attempted to make arrests during picketing by striking meatpackers. It spread to at least three states.

What's neat from here is that they almost go in chronological order :tony:

February 11, 1847 - Thomas Edison is born

April 9th 1865 - Robert E. Lee surrenders to Union General Ulysses S. Grant, ending the American Civil War.

December 30th, 1865 - author Rudyard Kipling is born

October 28th, 1886 - The Statue of Liberty is dedicated by President Cleveland

May 29th, 1917 - John F. Kennedy is born

November 2nd, 1920 - Warren G. Harding is elected President

January 15th, 1929 - Martin Luther King Jr. is born

January 17th, 1942 - Muhammad Ali is born

October 14th, 1947 - Dutch Queen Wilhelmina gives golden award to general Eisenhower

December 1st, 1955 - Rosa Parks refuses to give her bus seat to a white man

July 17th, 1959 - Billie Holiday dies and "North by Northwest" by Alfred Hitchcock premieres in LA

April 12th, 1981 - Columbia, the first space shuttle, is launched

November 10th, 1989 - The Berlin Wall comes down

"I am the Edison Phonograph, created by the great wizard of the New World to delight those who would have melody or be amused." - Len Spancer, an advertisement recording sold with the phonograph in 1906

"Mary had a little lamb..." - August 12, 1877, the first recorded words on the phonograph which itself was the first device capable of recording and reproducing sound

"Some men see things as they are and say why?, I dream things that never were and say why not?" - Ted Kennedy’s eulogy for Robert Kennedy on June 8th, 1968

"That's one small step for man...one giant leap for mankind" - Neil Armstrong stepping onto the moon on July 20th, 1969

Michael really said "We're capable of such great things...so stop being so f*cking stupid :patrizia:"

Thanks for sharing, so interesting to read everything that's in there! I recognised most of the quotes from the song but there is so much more I never looked into. And I love that he even included his younger self, because he knows he's iconic even if he was humble about it :fan:
