When compared to other indie, folk, and country writers, her songwriting looks amateurish

I actually like Lover:huntyga::crossed:

She is the "perfect popstar", including all the dramas and politics - and part of it is that everyone has to say something about her.

I also feel a lot of her songs are somehow basic and varying similar contents, but there still conveying so much emotion and never fail to capture one.

She (and probably her team, too) has an extremely good business sense and probably is cleverer than all of her peers careerwise. And this thread is a proof of her tactic working out great.

Firstly, claiming your feminist position immediately before delegitimizing another woman doesn’t feel very much like feminism.

I find this take paradoxical. Taylor is “too successful” as a Woman to take aim at gender equality, yet her massive platform is arguably one of the most influential and well positioned to have an impact. I must disagree that she’s the wrong messenger. To suggest that only a less successful woman is primed to ponder her success against a man’s is inherently sexist.

This take is essentially saying “Sit down Taylor, stay in your lane Taylor, you’re too successful to represent the plight of women less successful than you Taylor.” And that’s exactly the type of judgment she rails against. It’s picking her apart to downplay her legitimacy in a conversation she has every right to be a part of. Just because she’s successful does not make her immune to gender inequality. She’s 💯 experienced it, and therefore she has an important perspective to add to the conversation. Not to mention mass appeal & platform. One tweet and the whole nations talking about an issue she’s brought to light.

IMO, There’s no such thing as a wrong messenger. Subjectively, there are “better” messengers, but dialogue from all POV’s and perspectives is important and valuable to progress a movement forward. The important thing is momentum and keeping the discussion alive. Some voices just happen to be more impactful than others.

You can be a feminist and be critical of another woman's opinion. We're all people at the end of the day. The point of feminism isn't to put women on a pedestal and make them always right. If we want equality with men, we have to realise that, just like men, some women are worth supporting and others aren't. But in any case, maybe a man shouldn't be telling a woman that she's doing feminism wrong?

She can talk about these things, just not with herself in the forefront. The Man is from her viewpoint, which is really the wrong place for it to be. There are women much less successful than her who've taken a generalised view of such a topic. It's not something she can seem to discuss without making it all about her. And feminism's such a big topic, it's not like no one was talking about an issue until she brought it up.

Taylor is a gifted lyricist... and a good composer.

evermore >> folklore. She picked the best songwriter/producer to work with... and let Aaron do his thing. Classy.

Beautiful Ghosts (Cats) is a BEAUTIFUL song! Purrfect for Victoria. It should have been nominated for Best Original Song at the Oscars... but the movie was a joke.

She's won AOTY 3 times. What's next? An Oscar for Best Original Song? Acting? Directing? R&B? Jazz?

Taylor and Adele are more alike than we think. "He was my man... but he done me WRONG!" 🙂

Yes, Taylor dates famous, good-looking men, so?? Nothing wrong with dating people who do what you do and know what it's like to be good-looking and famous.

It was 200% Kanye's fault. Why blame the victim just because she's female and famous? Makes no sense.

Folklore is her best album.

self titled, red, 1989, and Lover are her worst first singles.

the success she receives is well earned and the unrealistic hate she get is ridiculous at times.
