Thought on Charli XCX's latest album Crash (so far)

So the album is called CRASH not CRUSH, my bad.

So far we get some pretty good singles, with some average below in between. So I gonna share my opinion and you can share yours.

I like New Shapes, sound bit like demo, but Christine and the Queens and Caroline Polachek performance still makes me satisfied, not just suit the music but also Charli voice. During the song, it feels like three of them were born to form a avantgarde girl group (Though NS is just a nice Dance-Pop piece.)

Baby is best single. Not much to said, extreme charismatic. The "I'ma make(f**k) you my(up) —" chorus is repetitive yet energetic, she's funky on this one.

Every Rule reminds me I used to replay White Roses non stop, sweet, slow tempo, Charli's pop priestess voice is slowly glowing and drift through like snow flake. Tender chic.

Beg for You had grow on me after it released, from "Oh..." to "At least I can yell and shake my arm while it play." It's, fine. At least they won't sound bad.

And Good One, I hate it, chorus boring, music sad, it's makes me feel like Ajayii  listen to Chromatica. You just bump you head mindlessly.

Album's second half is better than the first.

You might like Cruch since it and New Shapes were same genre. Not crazily love it, but it's okay as an opening track (Which makes New Shapes shine out as some kind of evolution, like a Pokémon.)

I don't know what's my thing towards Constant Repeat. Maybe it's the lyrics, it's kinda boring. Or the energy? I don't know... production sure is glittering but there's something went wrong.

Move Me sounds like Charli scrapped. This, Constant Repeat, and Beg for You feels similar to me (It's not, right? I'm just wrong and tripping.) But the fact it come before Baby makes sound more like a interlude. At first you dance with Move Me, next Baby just brutally wash it out.

Lighting is PC Music without the irony element, it's retro in good way I'll give it that. I always like Charli's auto-tune, A.G. always makes them sounds quirky instead run into total train wreck. However

Oh yeah, Yuck reminds me that expensive Gwen Stefani music video, so far it one of my fav on the album. Unlike Lighting It's didn't get bury by the retro feeling, instead Charli just control the atmosphere effortlessly.

Used to Know Me is your typical homo club dance track. Nothing much to say sadly (It's also sound like that Slayyyter song I hate, so it's cool to see Charli have the ability to fitting this cheep-bubbly sound while avoid getting dragging down by the sound.)

Twice is cute, the last minute's pitch change is sweet on top.

Overall, I would gave the album 7 out of 10. Initially I was worried that there would got no banger, but thankfully we got Baby, and New Shape start to grow on me. CRUSH maybe just another retro electro pop album, but it's decent one.

i Stan every single song. Rn I find myself listening to beg for you heavily in my playlists. Good ones and new shapes are excellent, I haven’t had enough time to get into the other two but I already vibe with them. 

Charli literally can do no wrong in my eyes. This albums shaping up to be one of my favs from her so far

New Shapes is my favorite so far idk what it is I just think the blatantly dry synth chords in the chorus are so cool & the way the vocal delivery is so “throw-away” it’s so vibey when it comes together

Baby, Good Ones, and Every Rule are really good also

So far I like/love all the songs, but I’m having a hard time connecting with Baby. Maybe it’s because I overhyped myself when hearing the Baby snippets. Yup, it’s that.
