Putin must be stopped Nobody is going to war over this other than Russia and the Ukraine. As unfortunate as it is, the Ukrainians are not going to receive any boots on the ground military assistance. The US won’t go to war with Putin because we don’t have a dog in this fight and that’s the only time we bother to get involved. Ukraine isn’t a NATO country and as such the US has no obligation to assist in terms of alliances. Ethically? Maybe. Probably, even. But ethics has rarely, if ever, been relevant to the US when it comes to war. The EU will not go to war with Putin because they’re energy dependent. The EU and Russia are mutually beneficial to each other in terms of an exchange between energy/fuel and goods. Russia needs the EU for many resources and can collapse without them, while the EU needs Russia’s oil and can collapse without it. If the EU cripples Russia, they in turn cripple themselves. It’s terrible, it is absolutely terrible, but the Ukraine will be on their own with this.
