- the land corridor connecting Crimea with the other Russian occupied territory means that Russians can supply the peninsula by land instead of air

- Russia seems to make faster advancements there, unlike in the north

You think Putin's gold is to have all East of the Dnipro river and the South?  Cause he can't dominate all the Ukraine, like you said to me days ago, the sentiment anti Russian by Ukrainians became huge. How can he dominate the country even with his puppet? ( My feeling is that the war there will be endured for years)

Exactly! He isn't going to be able subdue 44M of people that are for the most part unwilling to be part of Russia. A puppet government may fall overtime, and that would require '''only'' a democratic election or civil unrest. Putin wants some territory to annexed to the Russia Federation, and this territory is Ukraine's south/ Blak Sea region (which is more Russified and has more Russian speakers compared to the rest), and the areas est of the Dnieper, which is a significant natural barier. And of course, Transnistria, which is already Russian-controlled. This would mean he wants a border with NATO in Romania, and that the Republic of Moldova is on the line.

Ngl it was one of the first things that I thought when the war was starting, I think Moldova should prepare to face the same

Unfortunately, the thought of a future invasion of Moldova is justified, especially if Russian takes control of the southern region of Ukraine quickly. Moldova shold be allowed to join NATO or at least EU asap, if they want security from Russian threat.

I can only imagine what goes through peoples head and government in Moldova.

Novaya Gazeta, Russia's leading independent newspaper, reported that children were detained by Russian police for putting up flowers and anti-war posters at the Ukrainian embassy in Moscow.

Russian oligarchs are starting to realize that their self preservation depends more on getting rid of Putin than conquering Ukraine. This war is completely senseless for all sides. Hopefully they’ll have him “removed” soon.

Mte.  The west should be helping Moldova now before Putin starts to demonstrate plans to take it.  NATO or EU membership would be great, and while waiting for membership arm Moldova with sophisticated anti-aircraft and anti-tank weapons.  Setting up a base in Moldova would be great.

I believe they will plan on taking back the region of Transnistria first, as they fought for it before. Even if the region doesn’t seems to be controlled by anyone its still a huge part if Putin gets it

Once they get Ukraine they will have no problems taking on Moldova, If im not misinformed, Russian troops are still in Transnistria, it might be too late for joining Nato sadly
