They’re more psychedelic and raw imo and would just show how great the production and idea(s) was before Orbit’s touch. EDIT: Skin (Flirtation Dance) demo till this day still gets me I need to sit down one day and listen to this whole video. I've tried before, but I'm so attached to the final versions, I end up going back to them. Cavadour 2,315
This is a masterpiece. But you can't avoid to mention William Ørbit as the genius behind this album. I already was a fan of his work, way before RoL. I still own some early Torch Song and Bassomatic vinyls, some of them never got a proper CD release. Just listen to WØ's Strange Cargo series (especially Stange Cargo III) and Torch Song - Toward the Unknown Region to perceive how much RoL owes to his work. He has said he polished the guitars takes on this album until his fingers were bleeding... There's a Ray of Light - William Orbit Instrumentals promo CD out there. The rip quality is not perfect, some songs are stricken with heavy skips, but all in all you can appreciate how this great album of Madonna is such a masterpiece even without any of her (still great) vocals. With William Ø behind the console and instruments, Ray of Light was bound to be a fantastic album. Same as some years before, when U2 went to Eno and Lanois for their Joshua Tree. It was a bold move for Madonna, but the quality of the songs and the videos is incredible and Ray of Light now sits among the greatest albums of all time.
