COOOK 76,406
We know that the gap between singles, two years prior to her debut release, kills the hype and engagement. But even with that, Ava Max managed to be a success in Europe, pulled decent streaming numbers, and her name is not yet forgotten- even if it's just for her haircut. Had we not heard 70% of her album before its release, there'd be a possibility that her narrative in the pop landscape would be different today. Meaning, timing and management are more to blame. So while we wait for what's next to come, do you think Pop's Underdog deserves a spot among the MPGs? Can she pull a Dua Lipa and blow it out of the water with her sophomore effort? Does she have the goods to reach the potential that's evidently there? Some standouts/receipts: Spoiler Or are samples and interpolations her niche as a throwback artist? VasilisVas 5,140
Idk. I like her and I don’t at the same time. Sometimes I feel like she comes across as way too much as a try hard.
Pennywise 36,079
Dua's debut was way more successful, though. And she has a certain charisma, unlike Ava Max, who feels like, idk, Rita Ora or Bebe Rexha or something. So long ggd, it was nice while it lasted. Cameltoe Chariot 15,151
At the risk of sounding really cruel, Ava Max has very little charisma or spark as an artist and I think most people pick up on that. Her brand and image comes across as very contrived - the max cut totally reads as something from a 60+ year old ad executive tasked with creating a look for a "futuristic pop star". Her music is paint by numbers mid-2000s club pop. Her vocals are great but very much give your friend who's great at karaoke teas. Every clip I've seen of her being interviewed is full of bland, empty responses that seem rehearsed... like her lying about being an Elton John fan: For Dua Lipa, it was only a matter of time - everything was right from the beginning and just needed polish. The things that needed more work like her stage presence CLEARLY got focus behind the scenes and you could see the improvement immediately. Just looking at the two side by side and comparing projects there is so much more spark, artistry and passion radiating from Dua. Ava just feels... empty
Bling 31,327
I definitely think she can, her live vocals are actually insane! But for Dua-style success, she needs to leave the tweeny-bopper sound at the door This is really the main factor that keeps me from listening to her music more. Songs like "Naked" are more mature and she would be wise to go that route instead of continue to appeal to a market that will stream TF out of her music but can't afford to buy her concert tickets without their parents'. I'm really interested in seeing how her future release goes and hope she evolves as an artist instead of serving the same era over and over (not saying any names ...) The interpolation niche that she does is cute and makes her music likable, but for the wrong reasons….because we liked the original hits to begin with. Everything just feels a bit too safe with her music. Dua just has this freshness to her that puts all eyes on her. Maybe Ava can pull that off too with better management, but until she pulls away from the interpolations I fear she’s gonna forever be labeled as a tribute artist. Been a cuff touple, a puff bupple, a tough couple of years.

steven 5,944
I think Ava Max is absolutely underrated. Great vocals, great attitude and charisma. But I think she needs a new team and bring something new to the table for her 2nd album.

pussycat 3,514
No she's not at MPG level. She's not refined. Rn she's not more than a hairsytle singer who samples everything. She's no artist. It's not clear who Ava Max is. Not as a brand nor as a person Her concepts, album covers, looks,... lack the depth that MPG do have. Idk tbh she has the potential to be a classy MPG but she needs to put herself out there fully.
