I'll probably regret mentioning it. It's just that he has done a large number of comedy movies.
streamstarcrossed 409
I think the concerns about how a “darker” role would effect Gaga’s mental/emotional state are presumptuous and becoming more exaggerated. It feels somewhat inappropriate to even speculate about what you personally think she can or can’t handle. Ultimately that’s for her deciding. Shes already got alot of music out, listen to those untill she makes something new, she can do whatever she wants and so far shes doing pretty well. Why is ,,disheartening,, to have different opinion? I love her movies and think that she is terrific actress but music is why I love her and its logical that music fans will want more music from her? ofc she can do whatever she wants, I just stated what I would like to get... There are genuinely funny moments in the story (especially in the scenes of Paolo, Pina and even Patricia at times). There is a serious prejudice against comedies in the eyes of award circles and the public. I've been reading some of the Intrenet comments on House of Gucci, and most of them mock Gaga and Leto's performances, when it is precisely these two actors who get award recognition. I don't remember Gaga being mocked in this way when she did A Star Is Born. At most, they thought "she was alright, but maybe not so stellar" but I don't remember a lot of people making fun of her the way they're mocking her for House of Gucci now. A Star Is Born is of course not a comedy and I think people are doing this to Leto and Gaga because of how it's "campy" and are easier targets because of that. Another movie that is constantly mocked this award season is Don't Look Up. I haven't seen the movie but it's one of the few comedies in the Best Picture line-up. I don't think it's a coincidence that other tragic, "serious" stories are not the victim of the public's mockery, and only films like Gucci and Don't Look Up are. People just see more merits in dramatic tragedies, and it's easier to get recognised when you perform in those genres (Olivia Colman, Nicole Kidman, Penelope Cruz clearly benefited from this). I truly think that if Gucci wasn't this campy that it would've done so much better. Anyone who isn't Lady Gaga would've just been shut out of the award season because of the tone of the writing. It's actually amazing how Gaga got involved in so many precursors and at one point became the frontrunner. I personally think she should take on only serious roles in the future, unless it was a master comedy writer like Taika Waititi or Wes Anderson. Even Adam McKay is criticised, so you can see how serious the prejudice against the genre is. Personally, I think it would be a lame & uninteresting move to predominately make gritty, serious, ~important cinema~ type movies to just win approval and an acting Oscar. I think the problem with HoG was that it wasn't well-made - the editing was a bit off (not talking about the rough trailer sex, then getting married to a George Michael song - that was actually great), but that it felt like everything was squeezed in and condensed thoughout the whole movie (the sudden baby, the sudden death, are we in Italy or are we in NYC? etc). Also, that it was filmed like it was a very special ep of CSI Miami did not help. Just because Ridley didn't give what needed to be given doesn't mean she should avoid comedy completely. Also, some of its criticism is because some people are so willfully dumb and looking for an easy target, that they don't have the sense of nuance to realize it's a dramedy, so they criticize elements that are actually supposed to be fun as if it's a failed, very serious drama. Like, it was also a genuinelly popular movie, it's important to take into account that Gaga's accent, and Leto's camp were showcased heavily in the trailer, most people were clearly unbothered by it with them showing up in theaters for it. I'm not suggesting like, bad Adam Sandler movies for her, but I think it's throwing the baby out with the bathwater to just go straight drama. Also, I think its cool for her to have some stuff that isn't geared towards awards, or having film twitter's approval. I also think Gaga is just a different type of actress than the Roony Mara's of the acting world - she's more Michelle Pfieffer by way of Barbra Streisand, like a classic Hollywood vibe, and a type that can vacillate perfectly between more comedic or camp elements, and drama, and that kind of sets her apart from other actresses, and IMO, is helping make her a star at the box office. ALGAYDO 30,328
Kinda want her to take the lead of a TV show for a bit before tackling another movie project because I think she won’t release another movie for like 3/4 years, so an acting gig at a tv show could keep her acting career busy while working on the bigger projects (movies)

There should be some news on that already if it was happening. But the "musical star biopic" as an award-bait has been done to death recently, and it didn't do Jennifer Hudson that many favours. I think producers will give it a rest before returning to it again. An Amy biopic has been in development for a few years now. Gaga will never play Amy because she is too old, Amy passed away at 27 and the movie will chronicle her rise in the industry from her teenage years, and Amy's family already said they want someone who isn't famous and is British to play her. 8 hours ago, Fresco said: I don't want her playing a singer that commits suicide. Nuff of that crap. She method acts, so don't even go there for a second. Stop glamorizing suicide. LG is a bigger star than Amy W was. Let a less established singer play Amy. JusKeepBreathin 19,311
If that Amy bio pic isn't started in at least a year from now she will be too old. Amy Winehouse died at 26 or 27. Chic 20,830
I don’t know if she sees getting an Oscar as top priority when it comes to extensive film projects. On one hand, it’s nice that she’s have the motivation to work harder and keep putting out blockbuster roles. But she’s not usually one to stifle her chameleon-like nature for the purposes of achieving commercial success. I could see her branching out into other genres, and I’d love to see her do comedy, but something tells me she’s closer to going superhero or sci-fi. Self-inflicted death, aka suicide. But whatever you call it, a painful traumatizing role to act, and not good for LG, imo of course.

Like I said It wasn't my goal to get that drunk and it scared me into not drinking like that. Now I don't ever go beyond a third consecutive drink. That's my personal limit. So I usually baby sit drinks for a long time and I only drink like that when I go out to a club. If I'm at dinner I probably have like two glasses of wine and that's only if I order wine. But I don't really have an addictive personality mostly because I don't like feeling like I was that night, which was not in control of myself. Basically my anxiety stops me from being an alcoholic.
