monstertoronto 8,779
Although Chromatica may be my fave album of hers, I think it may have had the least impact given how it’s promo campaign was cut short almost the day it was actually released (due to important reasons like the pandemic and the race reckoning that started the day of release). The campaign never recovered, no other singles were ever officially released (911 video was called a short film and it was never serviced to radio or promoted as a single). The era was basically abandoned immediately upon release and the GP moved on. It certainly didn’t hurt Gaga overall, as true reviews were largely positive, and she got a number one album, number one single and top five single, but the era didn’t have much lasting impact for the GP. For fans like myself, it was a revelation and a beacon of hope, but realistically, it didn’t impact her career that much. I wanted to say Joanne, but the impact of that was clearly introducing her to a new audience with her country-pop sound, giving her another number one album and a cute hit in the aftermath of the ARTPOP media takedown, and it directly led to her getting the Super Bowl, which was an instrumental turning point towards restoring her career. Born This Way and The Fame Monster made this fanbase into what it is today for one. Second of all, Born This Way literally saved lives Gurl Born This Way had more impact than The Fame. Just because it’s her big debut doesn’t mean it’s more important. Born This Way is the most impactful and actually changed lives. Whereas The Fame is just music to dance to. That’s why I said that. Regardless of whether you think BTW or TFM may have been more impactful than the Fame, the question wasn’t between those three albums. It was which had the least impact overall for her whole career. Obviously the debut album that introduced her to the entire world and lifted her career into the stratosphere, and which has given her still the majority of her solo number one singles to date, literally did not have the “least”‘impact on her career. It’s still the most successful album she ever released. There are other albums in her discography for you to choose from, but the Fame is not even on the table for this question. Original Diva 4,943
Chromatica. The fame/Monster put Gaga on the map and got her to where she is today. They are crucial to her career Born this way solidified gaga as a huge force in the pop music industry and became had a huge impact on charts and also of course on the lgbt community. ARTPOP is important because it represents a very difficult time in gagas career and also was a very influential album for the years to come (if you ask me). Cheek to cheek, Joanne and ASIB were important to gaga because they allowed gaga to recieve praise and lots of love from the public again, also showing her incredible talents and creative versatility. To me chromatica, while an amazing album with fantastic visual components, is not necessarily a hugely impactful or important album to Gagas career. Anyone else? excuse me no
TEANUS 12,941
Joanne or Chromatica, but I lean more towards Chromatica despite my personal preference. Joanne wasn’t a blockbuster album, neither was Chromatica (in my eyes ARTPOP was sorry not sorry; cultural resets, controversy, experimentism, hard to swallow artistic moments, etc.), but Joanne brought Gaga back to the hearts of the GP. Not necessarily the album sans Million Reasons, but the era that it spawned and the events that it led up to. Super Bowl and Coachella are obvi two career highlights. Chromatica wasn’t given the chance to become more important in terms of relevance to her career and creating fan memories. Nevertheless, the 2020 VMAs and the ROM drop are career highlights British social ladies with upturned pinkies, glasses clinking // xoxoTEANUS
