TW Sexual Assault: Gaga on how Dr. Luke caused a psychotic breakdown

A lot of people are celebrating the release of Kim Petras‘ new EP, which was entirely co-written and produced by Dr. Luke (like all of her music). The support of her and Dr. Luke can be triggering to many survivors of sexual abuse. 

Gaga, who was sexually abused by a producer and as a result had some sort of an abortion, told Oprah in great detail how a trigger of trauma can affect survivors. You can read/watch what she went through when she got triggered here:

Gaga did not specify what deposition she was sitting for, but in 2017 she was deposed as part of the lawsuit between Dr. Luke and Kesha. 

While I cannot tell you what to listen to or want to take away from anyone’s success (especially of trans people, who have it so much harder in show biz), I think it’s very important to remember how triggering it can be to see a rapist and his friends succeed everywhere you look. I’m speaking from first hand experience.

Lastly, before people attack me for not bringing up other artistes like Doja, I want to remind you all that Doja spoke up about Dr. Luke being shady and not having worked with him in years. She was signed to him way before Kesha came forward for the second time (the first time was in 2005), while Kim Petras‘ best friend confirmed that Kim willingly chooses to work with Dr. Luke despite getting offers from various record companies. In addition to that, she said she would never work with a rapist, which basically means she doesn’t believe Kesha is telling the truth.

So what should we do?? Stop listening to Doja, Katy, and half of the hits from the 00s and 10s? I mean I get that a lot of artists stopped working with him but he still gets royalties from their songs, our streams are making him richer, it doesn’t matter if Katy or Doja stopped working with him.

yes, that's it, it's not something complicated, there are thousands of much more better artists and musicians out there, why keep being stuck with these generic pop stuff? even queer LGBT artists that deserve being listened, it's just matter of searching until you find something that you really love

i've tried it but I always forget. I'm not ''stuck'' with the same generic pop stuff, I listen to a lot of different artists but I still like teenage dream, doja's old music, kesha's old songs, etc. I'm not complaining btw, I'm just being honest, I feel like a lot of people feel the same way I do u.u. 

I still think that its very weird when any artist is still willing to work with that pig

I thought she was deposed because of texts between her and Kesha where Kesha alleged he assaulted Katy? Is there any reason to assume he is the producer in question? I honestly don't know. Either way, he is terrible.

Isn’t Kesha still under Luke’s label? And he weirdly, disgustingly, gets royalties from any new music she puts out? And if so, should we stop listening to Kesha to stop supporting Luke?

i believe in Kesha and i dont know about Katy but Doja is definitely not the one to be blamed in this situation, she signed her record deal at 17 i believe BEFORE any of this stuff about kesha came out, not to mention she's denounced Dr Luke as much as she possibly can considering she still is under his label, also lets not forget that he stole producing and writing credits on half of Planet Her, credits that should have gone to Doja.

Doja will most likely pack up and move from his label to another once her 5 album deal is done (and she wants it done as soon as possible as some of yall might be aware), anyways before you decide to stop listening to an artist investigate a little bit.
