Hmm, this should be interesting. Will GGD users finally accept the term since an iconic Black woman in fashion and pop culture agrees with the claims, or will they once again denounce its meaning and say 'there are more important things'? The saga continues~

As for the topic at hand, I've always called out Kim and her family for their bottom-of-the-barrel-scraping approach to ripping off black people and black-fishing. It is the one thing she'll never address. Also, she was not born with 'tan skin', she had a pale olive skin tone.

This entire ‘controversy’ is a reach. She does not wear any traditional african hairstyles, those are 1960s inspired updos, literally check a fashion magazine from that time. As for the other pictures of her outfits being compare to what Beyonce and Naomi wore... I am at a loss for words... this how ridiculous this movement can get. I can find pictures of other people wearing a white jacket and accuse Naomi for being a copycat too. Are ya’ll okay? I am sorry but while I can understand why people were upset with her in the past, this time it’s absolutely unfounded and ridiculous and a clear hate train created by the internet because they already did not like her.

there are tons of essays out there on Kim’s shenanigans

google is free, sweaty

But we are discussing the topic at hand right now, in which she is being falsey acussed of something that she did not do. There is no appropriation whatsoever in this spread or copying, ya’ll can reach as much as you want and delude yourselves that she did something wrong again but she did not. Just admit you hate her for her past and call it a day but trying to make everything she does problematic is not cute at all.

Watch her wear any form of braids and people will tell you braids isn't traditionally European, lol.

Her hair or clothes in this shoot doesn't say African anywhere, damn what a reach. It's 2022 , let people share each other's culture already if that was the case anyway.

maybe use some of that common sense and head to google then?

though you might need some critical thinking skills to fully grasp the criticism Kim deservedly receives

good luck! :vegas:

They are talking about the conversation at hand though, in which you have been quite baseless.  While Kim may have appropriated in the past, dressing like a black model or model in general(which is what most celebrities do) is not not appropriating anything.  Especially when the model herself isn’t dressed in culturally African specific clothing or hairstyles in the first place.

The conversation is about the baseless claims made in regards to the vogue spread... where are you using common sense and critical thinking when you jump on a hate train that is rooted in nothingness when trying to pick apart her spread and vilifying her for no reason this time? How tone dead of you to keep beating that same note when you know very well you are in the wrong this time...

I will not dignify any of this with a response that requires me to explain anything to people who, like I stated before and stand by, refuse to acknowledge all the problematic undertones with how KK handles her racial controversies.

This is not a racial controversy... that is the WHOLE point of this conversation. This is a reach. Point, blank, period. Stop trying to make everything she does problematic, as I said, while I understand what people were trying to pick apart in the past, this time is COMPLETELY unfounded and baseless. But keep on living in your ‘dignified’ yet delusional world.

According to you, as in, your own opinion. The less you tout it around as factual the less bothered you'll be. My initial response to you was not personal, but it is quite offensive (and repetitive on this site) having to defend Black individuals offended by culture appropriation, black-fishing and the like.

This is not the first instance - in fact, this is one of a myriad of threads made (with the topic being similar to the one at hand) where the majority of the users echo your exact sentiments. And with that being said, I said what I said. If your opinion is opposed to mine, I acknowledge that, moving on.

Acording to facts, not my own opinion, a little bit of research will prove to you that Beyonce was not the first woman to wear a long braid, Naomi a white jacket and that the updos Kim sports in the magazine are very much 1960s inspired. To sit here and try to portray Kim, in this instance, as problematic, for wearing EUROPEAN fashion designs that Naomi MODELED in a fashion show and claim she is appropriating black culture yet again or copying her because she is black, is ABSOLUT nonsense. This is NOT a racial controversy, stop trying to paint it as one. So, as much as our previous conversation, one could say was based on personal opinions, this time it is not, the evidence is there, you choose to turn a blind eye. Also, just as an idea, do you think, after this ammount of backlash that she would INTENTIONALLY try and copy anybody or appropriate, especially since she is trying to ‘run away’ from taking responsability as you insinuate? It literally makes no sense.

I mean, if to you Kim K is the socially-aware moral compass, then I have nothing else to say. Have a good day.

Of course, ignore the whole other 80% of the comment as you tend to do when you don’t have an argument to bring. Have a nice day as well.
