Ridley is a legend, but with film being a visual medium, and this movie being an entry in the fashion film genre, I would think hair would be very important. Not to mention, hair is such a great way to visually denote the passage of time. Glad he is on Gaga's team and that they fought to have more than two hair looks. It's set in the 70s, 80s, and 90s, it would have been underwhelming to have just two hair looks for Patrizia. Details are everything.

I’m glad because he deserves more recognition. I remember when this fan base constantly used to drag him for some of Gaga’s looks.

I think in this circumstance "didn't get it" means "didn't understand why it was necessary"/"didn't care"

This is the strangest thing. Gaga even admitted that her and Freddy tried hard to get Ridley to let them do wigs, and it took Freddy cutting and styling a wig on Gaga's head for him to okay it. I don't get it. You'd think a seasoned professional like Ridley would understand the importance of wardrobe. He approved all that special effects sh.it for Jared Leto which took many, many hours to apply every day, but wouldn't allow Gaga's professional team to do multiple wigs??? Make it make sense

I'll be myself until they fūcking close the coffin.

well I think because he was more interested in the "realness" part of it... looking at Patrizia's old pics, we can see she didn't really have a lot of different hair styles.

So he probably didn't understand why they wanted to spend that much attention to her hair

He's known for his productions ending early and coming out behind the original budget, so maybe he didn't want to spend too much on wigs and found it unnecessary. Fredric was probably used to passionate obsessives like Ryan Murphy and Bradley Cooper. I read Ryan likes to look at and approve of every wardrobe choice for the characters in his shows (IIRC he even sketched out a dress design for The Countress on AHS).

While I'm sad for Gaga, I'm glad for the love and support Freddy is receiving on social media, especially after the year he's had (his mom died suddenly). He deserves all of this acclaim.

I don't get the 'he ignored me because I was this young kid' quote. Isn't he in his forties?

We love all the Little Directors… I mean, you guys obviously have more years in the Film Industry than Scott so it only makes sense that you guys will drag him for directing the way he did and the choices he made :poot:

Plus don’t forget that Scott started with commercials and he also shoots all fours angles to get every expression of the actor, then he picks the best angle, he doesn’t like to shoot dialogues separately… I guess what I’m saying is that his method is old style, he’s an old soul so he is stuck to his ways :poot:

Magic Mike

Usually on set the assistant directors rage at the time hairstylists need with the actors because they’re overlooked as non essential.
so I’m not surprised Ridley Scott didn’t care about him -.-
